I totally agree with you.
I dont know why people consider it slow and slug.
I have owned a galaxy s2,s3 and probably was going to buy s4 because of its features and hardware ofcourse. But for a meanwhile i thought of buying Xolo q800.And this was my best decision.Mt6589 really rocks. It doesnt even lag.Even i thought that its Armv7 so it would be slow but i am really shocked by the performance of mt6589.People here who criticize mt6589 just have a look on a device with this chipset.Whats main thing is the price of this chipset when compared with performance.I believe that all the brands should use mt6589 for their low end models instead of using broadcom and qualcomm low end.
Atleast in low end mediatek is king.
i owe XOLO q1000 and it has got MTK6589 1.2GHz quad,1GB RAM ; and it easily handles 720p screen, it didn't lag for even 1 time in three months.
and the matter is it's $210 phone ! and you even get MTK6589 in q700, a $115 phone !!
i can bet there's no one better in value for money than Mediatek !!
p.s. I am from India and phones with Mediatek are really rocking in here ! eg. canvas series.
Daboss, 17 Oct 2013Samsung,Qualcomm and mediaTec need to stop this multi core war and learn from apple inc.No, more cores is the future that is just the software that need better support and optimizations.
Apple should learn to make affordable phones, the hardware does not deliver for the price paid by a long way.
Samsung,Qualcomm and mediaTec need to stop this multi core war and learn from apple inc.
That's quite pointless to compare CPU by total Antutu score. There are separate CPU, RAM and GPU scores which are more representative.
I think you've got it wrong: you write the score as 25,496 and you compare it with Snapdragon 600 but in the graphical classification it shown as if the score was 25.496. The consequence is it is displayed on the last position when trying to order the devices according to their performance.
Later edit: zlebors has also seen the problem! ;)
3rd & 4th core are usually activated when you are downloading & installing apps
Its a decent type of score for me even if is being beaten by a quad core by samsung exynos and snapdragon. What do we expect in mediatek they produced a affordable type of chipset for masses. Its like you pay what you get. The only question is that did they fix the gps like on there past quadcore and does it overheat fast like samsung claim that they cant do on they octa core. How about power efficient.
None of the application utilize multiple cores very efficiently. Therefore making it not the best option
Please GSMArena , benchmark the Exynos version of Note 3 !!!! Please !!
fraserb64, 17 Oct 2013just waiting for an Intel or AMD Cpu to come along and set fire to my trousers :) AMD is more likely, given they have already announced they were concentrating efforts to make an APU in the ARM architecture.
TrinYa, 17 Oct 20131 sane question. How many useful/major/popular apps are there that are truly optimized for Oct... moreNot what's important. What's important is that this fairly powerful CPU will be available in cheaper devices. Giving great performance per $ :o)
Hdom, 17 Oct 2013Annnd its been corrected, now all previous comments will seem strange. Dont worry, image is still of Mt6589
1 sane question. How many useful/major/popular apps are there that are truly optimized for Octa-core chip and make use of all that eight cores?
Annnd its been corrected, now all previous comments will seem strange.
mas39, 17 Oct 2013Snapdragon 800 still thrashes this cheap octa core, it's just a gimmick, for me give me a quad... moreseems like smay is not the only one paying people for posting nonsense all over the web, buthurt qualcom is begining too:))))))...cheers to cheap alternatives!
