Nokia N85 and N79 hit USA
Some serious N-series skill sets foot on American soil, as Nokia N79 and N85 are now official in the US. The pair sure took their time to finally get US 3G sorted. Wi-Fi, GPS and a wealth of media on Symbian S60 are no news...

I had today this nokia N85 in my hand, and played with it..., all I can say is, it's gorgeous phone with everything is built in it!

went and got the n79 at the nokia flagship store in new york, so far love the phone, they were also selling the 5800 over the weekend but not the us version for three g. i got my n79 for 382.00 after tax. cheaper then amazon.com. on preorder. any way the phone rocks,

Yo they dropped the price for both phones :( but i'm still gonna get my N85,N97 and 5800xm :) i'm just waiting till nokia desides to put a store in canada mainly toronto i'll me the manager XD since i love nokia so much but want a nokia store here.... Canada slacks hard :( we really suck in phones plans XD

But yes I know that the N-series are made out of plastic, but they are still nice looking and solid (but to big for me)
What you think of the looks and quality is personal, but I think that Nokia and SE are the best phones, they've never let me down.

It's amazing to read people complain about these two phones and Nokia in general, writing nothing but 'ugly' and 'crap' as if these are the only adjectives available in the English language.
C'mon guys, let's be more objective around here. What is it about these two phones that you don't like?
N79 and N85 are practical solutions that cater both technical and multimedia-centric consumers. S60 is a mature interface with a wealth of productivity and entertainment third party applications. One of the core strengths of these devices is multi-tasking and integration with PC and MAC systems through the intuitive PC Suite.
Hardware-wise, these two phones serve up above-average specifications with the 5MP camera w/ autofocus and Carl Zeiss optics, WLAN radio, and GPS. The material used are plastic but nevertheless appropriate for their price range.
Phone manufacturers come up with good phones and not-so-good phones and phones that target different market segments. If you do not like a particular phone model, then perhaps you are not it's target market. If you are not adept with the OS, perhaps you lack the capacity to handle and understand such OS and merely limited to simpler ones. This is where the S40, Apple OS X (iPhone), and motomagix operating system/interfaces come in - to address the market that needs phones with straight-to-the-point interfaces.
No need to bash brands, just select the phone that is right for your taste, financial capacity and mental capacity.
Objectively speaking, Nokia still has the largest market share in worldwide sales with the S60 OS getting more than 50% of the OS chunk. Some people may not like the brand but this shows that they are getting 'it' right.
