Nice phone. For information of all, since the phone packs an OLED display instead of a regular LCD it will consume way less power and the battery will last longer than many other phones even though the screen is large.

@Lord
You are being too jealous. Yes, we know that high-end digicam would never replace cameraphones but it is just a matter of choice to not miss some special moments of your life because it is a matter of fact that you bring your phone frequently than your digital camera.

Well, I don't know what to say. Phone looks kinda strange. Hope it will not have too wide body because of using big ( in my opinion too big for phone) display. Also, modern phone should have Wi-Fi and 3,5 mm jack. Don't know if this phone have ones. Hope, S8300 will be equipped with powerful battery. To be honest, I'm not much optimistic about this model.

It better comes with good battery. It's CCD as I heard and consumes more power than CMOS.
and to 'the Lord' and some people digging the megapixel issues, please we know that we don't need 10-12mp but that's where the technology is leading to. If manufactures offer improved features along with high res cam, then why not. Can we ask them not to add 8mp? If 3 mp is enough, do we have 3mp phone with the latest features? Name one please. I doubt you could.

seems like a good phone at first glance, but then, I noticed its super slim body and I know that its 8mp camera is going to be crap..then, no s60, no wi-fi, probably not even 3.5mm jack..if this phone wants to sell, its going to have to sell for 370euro tops..

touch screen with keypad, good feature set but no os, ?? Samsung it looks like you guys are kinda desperate to reach the top cause so far the only Complete phone is the Inov8, great job with that but these useless i7110, Pixon and this, Omina was great but the such a loss res screen destroys the whole thing.

Please samsung forget all those boring "touch wiz' phones, their all useless

It seems Samsung is getting really hot this time.. I'm really getting excited for what will sony ericsson got to offer to counter this one in 2009. Will they have a new 8mp or will the 12mp rumour soon wipe these 8mp phones?

Forgot to add...

Excuse me D... might you let us know which Nokia has the capability to take 12 megapixel photos and Full HD videos?

The only thing near 12mp I've ever heard of, is Sony Ericsson's CMOS technology which will allow up to 12mp on their camera's, and this wont be out for a while!

The closest thing we can get to 12mp at the moment is Samsung's SCH-B600, that can take up to 10mp photos.

I hate people who back their arguements with weak evidence and, even worse, fictional information... even though their opinions may be agreeable...

Im going to have to agree with most of D's comment (comment below).

Why are people so easily sucked in to this megapixel race crap? Firstly, megapixels aren't everything. There has a lot to do with lens quality, sensor size, image processing algorithms and etc.

Many people are also forgetting that a mobile phone is use for calling, and not for taking photos. If you want decent photos, use a digital camera, because the higher the megapixel of your phone camera wont mean that much more.

For the people who think the Nokia are losing in the megapixel race, might I remind you they are winning in other ways, such as price to features ratio? Although, to some people, they may lack in eye-catching designs, is Nokia also not currently winning the race to release the first touch-based Symbian handsets (5800 XpressMusic, N97)?

What I have to say is that this Samsung 8 megapixel phone may not necessarily have as good photo quality as the INNOV8. The 12mm thinness can contribute to a loss in detail in photos (as seen by the photo quality of the thin Sony Ericsson C902). Then again, Samsung has proved itself in making thin camera phones that are quite capable (such as the U900's 5mp camera)

> In reply to D @ 2008-12-30 12:48 from p8ckSorry to say but how can you say that Nokia 5MP takes better allround photos than any 8MP. have you seen the photos from INNOV8. Its like photos from a proper digital camera. Please dont make comments without knowing things properly. Also just for your information, go and read the review of Samsung Soul and then tell which camera is best in 5MP :)

Nokia does have a massive share in the cell phones but have you noticed how much has Samsung gained in the last two years. So, just wait and see.

Now this is why i told people not to get the beta Innov8 in a 8mp panic. Because new and better phones would come right after from Samsung themselves. I'm a Ericsson user mainly for the walkman feature, so i'm not taking sides on the Nokia issue. But just because Nokia isn't joining some half breed 8mp race doesn't mean they are behind. Nokia has a to large domination of the market share to be drawn into this childish sandbox competition. They don't release halfmade phones in this class. When they do decide to enter the 8mp scene, they will release a killer product, swipe the floor and top sales, just like they did in the 3mp scene with the N73 and the 5mp scene with the N95 and the N82. It's not like Nokia to enter some halfbreed race when the N82 still takes better allround photos in different light condition then all the 8mp out now. So just wait for it, when Samsung, Ericsson and LG will start releasing proper good finished 8mp products in 2009 like this Samsung phone, then Nokia will enter the scene, the have a alot phones out now that is doing quite well, so there is no hurry. It's not like Nokia lack the tchnology to make 8mp shutters, cause my cousin has a 12.5 mp Nokia digital camera with the option to take filmclips in 720-1080p.

actually, 8mp is more than enough. 5mp is okay too. what manufacturer should improve on are things that matters such as bigger digital sensor and better lens and processor besides increasing mp.
