Anonymous, 26 Nov 2013It's time to say goodbye to battery life as quad HD or 4 x 720p display will confuse a lot of ... moreHow would screens with the same size and different resolution have the same PPI?
I also have Nokia N9 which has 251 ppi, when I look at it from the normal-phone-viewing distance, I dont see the pixels, they are visible when I look at it really close, but that is not the comfortable distance. Note 3 have 386ppi, and no matter how close I look, there is no way I can see any pixels there, and I have a good vision. It is not about density anymore, screens getting sharper, brighter, more colorful, with better vision angle, but that is not because of more pixels anymore! I have compared Note 3 (381ppi) with S4 (441ppi) both at max brightness, Note 3 is a lot better screen quality, its brighter, more white, but it has less ppi. Here is one more article about ppi: http://wolfcrow.com/blog/notes-by-dr-optoglass-the-resolution-of-the-human-eye/
Please read this article, perfectly explains it all: http://gizmodo.com/5960191/techs-new-most-meaningless-spec-ppi
Full HD is acceptable on phones coz at least there is content available ex.movies.qhd on phones is utter nonsense. Battery killer
note 3 killer?? my A*s
Lets see what it can do in terms of performance 'cause todays hardware is optimized for hd and full hd displays not for qhd.i think this phablet will lack the high fps and graphic performance of other high end phablets
In my opinion as a note2 user, the strong point of note series is their s-pen and related creativity apps that makes them the worlds best phablets.other phablets specs may beat note series with ease but none can match s-pen and creativity tools they have
Will the 1080p be new 720p

to see it with own eyes is the only way to u... moreI didn't sit down and study S4 vs Note 3 displays but I did give Note 3 a solid stare on various small font text and have to say I was positively surprised, the pixel density is adequate despite the Pentile matrix. Not bad at all, though I'm sure I could tell the difference if I had it side by side with a QHD 1440p phone of the same size.
The problem with Note 3 is that I buy phones from phone manufacturers only, not from the locksmith called Samsung.
AnonD-134749, 26 Nov 2013you better get a microscope to see differencesNo, there's no need for that, you just try some reading glasses please, and see for yourself that there's a huge difference. I can't say that it will help, maybe you have a low number of cones in your eye's sharp center zone, which could be an inherited condition, but still reading glasses will help you focus on shorter distance, should help a little then. Hopefully you can see what the average person can see with reading glasses, I promise you will feel stupid for your posts here the day you stop denying that your vision is poor, and that day must be close if you think 720p is enough for 5.5 inch, that's serious, and gives support to my theory of you having an inherited condition with a low number of cones.

to see it with own eyes is the only way to understand.

I would rather like to have a legible, high quality 720p screen on my smartphone than such a QHD.
Sad bit is that Vivo probably won't even have enough stock at launch to satisfy domestic demand in China, let alone enough to give to online international resellers.
But really great to see all these chinese manufacturers competing to be the best in the high-end aswell. Competition only leads to improvements.
It's time to say goodbye to battery life as quad HD or 4 x 720p display will confuse a lot of battery due to processor and GPU usage to move that many pixels. Say, there are two phone of 5" display, one with 720p resolution and the other with 1080p resolution, both are amoled and have around 441 ppi, you'll barely even notice any difference between the two screens. What we really need is, 8000 or 10,000 mah battery in these phones.

I just said there is still room for improvement in that area. Especially if you consider the power consuption a screen has at full brightness.
Wasn't talking about the z1's screen in specific but in general.

AnonD-209094, 26 Nov 2013Reading glasses are cheap, why dont you just get a pair and see what we are talking about? Dunno where you're from. But a proper pair of prescription glasses is hardly cheap.
Even if I love my fullHD screen on my z1 I would probably be fine even with 720p. Going beyond 1080p on a screen smaller than 8" is not worth the battery consuprion or the CPU-GPU usage needed to push that many pixels.
They only thing they need to improve in mobiles screens now are colour accurancy and outdoor viewing legibility.

QHD displays are extremely sharp and clear. Difference is clearly noticeable if you compare it with a 720p screen. Think before you post, boybawang
