Just by giving it the best display &q... moreI completely agree. If PPI was that important, Apple would have immediately released a denser display on iPhone 5. Well, that didn't happen because it makes no difference to the user experience in the end - at least not for now. I'm sure the next iPhone will come with a 1080p 4.5-5" display, but not in order to compete in the PPI race.
The reason I mention Apple is because when it comes to usability, they think things through.
its nice that companies can build 2k or even 4k screens in mobile displays but come on, there is nobody that can tell between a full 1080p and a 2k display on a 5" screen, such hi resolution i would suspect would barely even visible on a 10" tablet.
i cant imagine how unfriendly this will be with the battery, and the higher specced processor would have to work hard to keep content running nice, i also wonder how big the files will be for 2k films, most blu ray rips are not usually blu ray rips or they are so compressed that lots of the data has been lost, thus rendering them less them much less then hd. again on a mobile device, this is not noticeable until you put on a tab or moniter/large tv
This kind of moves is what makes companies go Bankrupt.
Just by giving it the best display "at that is not even sure because PPI is not everything" it doesn't make it a great phone. Most probably it will suffer from very bad battery life. Even if they put a big battery in they will end up making it very big. Also people looking for high end phones also want top of the line camera and I doupt Vivo will deliver in that department. But even if they succeed in making everything very good it's very hard to get a consumer to trust an almost irrelevant brand in the highend mobile market. Brand name is a very important factor for the majority of consumers especially when they are in the market of a highend phone worth 750$
I do like the sound of 2K, but 530ppi is ridiculously dense. I hope this type of technology has matured to a point to not cause any issues. My question is what to do with it? A high-density screen of that size is pretty for sure, but is it just about the ppi race? Everything from video's to wallpaper ought to be 2K to display nicely, and I wonder how websites will render on a display like that.
