All I can say is try it but only when u r ready to change ur phone like I did. Don't void ur warranty.
Had Samsung 4.1 on S3 and then even tried upgrading to Samsung 4.3. Slows the phone down and with those huge icons and a ton of services at the background....
Switched to CM 10.2 and have never looked back. Installed Nova launcher with Swype keyboard and the results are stunning. much improved battery life and i am loving it. haters will be haters but im proud to be a part of CM ecosystem.

ZZZ, 23 Dec 2013It does allow to update ur 3 yr old phone stuck on laggy ICS to JB, kills the bloatware, I jus... moreJust a bit of a clarification... First, let me ask you WHY would I need to update to the latest 4.4.x (at the moment), if my old JB 4.1.2 is not laggy at all, and has the functionality that I actually use, and which is missing on CM? I can certainly see some merit in updating an OS on some old hardware that has problems with stock ROMs, but here is another question: why buy a phone that works like crap on stock to begin with?
Second, CM technically does NOT "kill bloatware" -- it simply replaces the OS and preinstalled apps and services. However, you can truly kill bloatware (either remove or freeze it) on your existing stock ROM, which will definitely make it better, while retaining all the useful goodies of stock, and not breaking anything in the process, like you do with CM or AOSP.
I will definitely be happy to see the official update on my Optimus G (although, LG is the crappiest of them all in terms of updates, so the chances are slim to none). But CM/AOSP alternative? Umm... No, thanks. Believe me, I tried them, and my phone is still way better on stock 4.1.2. But if someone wants an update just for the sake of updating... sure, why not? Everyone is entitled to a personal choice, and it doesn't have to be reasonable, right? :)
i pay 1/3 of mobile price for warranty ...and not going to loose it for rooting to CM which is buggy any wayyy
ooops but not any CyanogenMod rom available for C4
mixa, 23 Dec 2013CM was good back in the days, in the Android 1.x times. Now it's just mostly half-done job. ... moreI have come to this realization as well. I used to cry about not having CM 10.2 on my LG Optimus L9 due to not being able to unlock the bootloader. But looking at the fact that these roms are unoffical and contain various bugs, I prefer to stay a step behind with stock, rooted 4.1.2 than have to find workarounds for the camera and audio bugs.
AnonD-128437, 23 Dec 2013bakwaas ROM........... Please think 100 times before rooting your Official ROM...... Thank YouThe only thing I need to think about is how to do it right... :) Rooting is the first thing I do on any Android device.
dds, 23 Dec 2013Unfurtunately this headline could also say "10 million potentially warranty voided device... moreThat's true, but it's because of stupid OEM policies. Blame them! CM is not at fault here. You would also void your warranty by rooting or installing a custom recovery, so what? It's your own choice.
Running CM 10.2 on my Samsung S3, and it's buttery smooth.

I have a custom rom on... moreIt does allow to update ur 3 yr old phone stuck on laggy ICS to JB, kills the bloatware, I just did it on my HTC Sensation which was crawling under ICS & Sense, now much more fluid on JB 4.1, also Cyanogen for the layman gives OTA updates in case they come out with JB 4.3. Yes you lose some functionality, but in most cases a fluid OS do make up for it, ESPECIALLY on older hardware. Keep in mind Dual Core 3 yrs old is not the same as Dual core of today.
CM was good back in the days, in the Android 1.x times. Now it's just mostly half-done job.
I can bash CM all day, but it's pointless, they are already a downie bound to fail soon.
In 90% of the cases, a debloated stock ROM is way better, than any CM.
Unfurtunately this headline could also say "10 million potentially warranty voided devices". I hope users will someday have the same freedom they have on other computers.
bakwaas ROM...........
Please think 100 times before rooting your Official ROM......
Thank You
Awsesome

Anonymous, 23 Dec 2013I dont mind the negative comments, CM You deserve special praise, you have done wonders to us.... moreI wouldn't necessary agree with the geek statement... Geek or not, there are many ways to improve the user experience. I tried many versions of CM on all my Android devices, and there's always something that makes me go back to stock. Something doesn't work right, something is just plain inconvenient, something looks ugly, etc. I am way better off with the stock ROM. Needless to say, it's rooted, debloated, tweaked with tools like Xposed framework, and with a custom kernel (is that geeky enough? :)). I am not suffering from lags, my phone is fast and smooth, battery life is great, and the functionality of stock has always been better for me that CM or AOSP. I am not bashing CM, these ROMs are great for many people, but they are very far from being perfect, and from being the ultimate choice.
I dont get it, what does it do? more battery life? more features? what? I have a custom rom on my galaxy note 3 "the legend rom" it gives me more battery life and retains all my note 3 features. so what does this cyanogen rom actually add to the phone itself? can someone please explain to me because gsm arena has no information about the benefits.
AnonD-78963, 22 Dec 2013Guys is there CyanogenMod rom for Lenovo , zte Sony etc.... or it is only for Samsung & HTC !!Just go to their website, they have a complete list of all devices that are supported in specific ROM versions.
I dont mind the negative comments, CM You deserve special praise, you have done wonders to us. I love your roms. If u are not a geek, then, maybe these roms are not meant for you
