AnonD-59657, 07 Jan 2014ha ha... this is the most funniest thing that Microsoft has ever said!
Anyway, they are NO.... moreexcuse me
nokia is not only manufacturer of wp
samsung , htc and huawei have failed to beat nokia's target me selling wp8.
if nokia enters android , the other OEMs would lost their identity in market
so nokia is doing its best with wp8.
however apple should considered only OEM's of that os based phones
but other OEMs have lead their hands to WP but not in IOS .
IOS being the oldest OS , it should have beat android
but android is successful bcoz , you will get it for 50$
WP is getting there...Thanks to the former tech giant Nokia. Now with the help of Microsoft who knows what they can accomplish together? GO Ms/Nokia
ha ha... this is the most funniest thing that Microsoft has ever said!
Anyway, they are NO.1 maker for Windows phone and sell the most Windows phone in the world.....:(((((
You know why? Because they are the only one who makes Windows Phone.
"156% year-over-year gain" If i sell 100 phones in 2012, 200 in 2013, how much % get ? Especially if my competitors sold tens of times more then I...
GJ! Third World, East-Central Europe, poor countries, where is United Kingdom, USA, Japan, Nederland, Canada, what about China ?!
Where is world market share it's 90%, 50%, 30%, 25%, 15% after 3 years ?!
MS intentionally finish off Symbian and MeeGo so even if Windows Phone some day gain 10% it doesnt you will be success.
AnonD-134497, 07 Jan 2014Such wrong "assumptions" you got there. First of all, your predictions are baseless ... more+1 with you mate...
he is still in the calculation of Android phones be is sammy ,moto or whatever owning the smartphone market and gonna give a head on competition to WP devices.
Back in 2006-2008 when Nokia had selling its flagship phones with the N Series(N70,N75,N80 ,N95 etc) and E Series phones(E61) , samsung was still maufacturing the basic CDMA devices.
To correct you @Rahul : people started knowing Samsung only from late 2010 or early 2011 when it first launched the ACE and Galaxy S series at the same time it was a growing stage for Android 2.3
After the success of Galaxy S2 ppl got to know about Android or the other Sammy Phones.
Don't forget for each and every device which samsung releases in market there is a license cost attached to it which goes to Google.
hence as it was running short of money it had to launch various models with the same version of Android and only give OS updates to its flagship or high end phones only because it should not disappoint its customers.
So if you have ever used a Samsung phone you should be very well aware of how many Android updates did the Galaxy S2 got?..right from 2.1 ,
2.3 ,
4.0,
4.0.1,
4.1.2,
4.2.0
Also when it comes to WP its fludic and feather touch exp...the UI of Wp 8 devices has always been classy unlike android....
For android if you buy a $100 phone to a $600 the UI has always been the same and only hardware made the difference...
so its ppl's choice which OS they want..
Anonymous, 07 Jan 2014this guys are really crazy the iphone is 700$ phone in those places. and the only lumia ... moreI totally agree with you, most people aren't going to shell out the kind of high prices that iphones cost, besides in Nigeria at any rate it's Nokia that's really selling, if Nokia ran another os (e.g. android) dd are that it would outsell the lumias and yes it's the 520s thatare really selling
WP will surely get even more better in WP Blue. :)
wow yea just nokia winp8
All these anti-WP8 should think what OS they have on their computers. Windows phone will triumph just as it has on computers.
AnonD-42799, 07 Jan 20142014 will be the year of fall for WP.
a) Tech savvy users are not gonna buy WP because they... moreSuch wrong "assumptions" you got there. First of all, your predictions are baseless have no sense at all.
A - People who are aware of tech only accounts not more than 5% in a 100% population estimation considering they are not tech site geeks like us. They want to buy a Windows Phone, they will buy a Windows Phone. Either it's Nokia or any other brand. 95% is an estimation based on the number of users to the number of awareness people got. Invalid argument.
B - They have nothing to do with the sales of Lumia 520, 525 and the other coming entry level Windows Phone. Moto G is only cheap in United Stated and some parts of United Kingdom. It's not that "Cheap" in other parts of the world. It's the same case as Nexus 5. Furthermore, Operating system is a personal preference so those who want to buy a flagship or entry level Windows Phone will buy a Windows Phone over an entry or flagship Android. Only Asus and Motorola are not aggressive in giving competition. Nokia is now backed-up by Microsoft in case you have notice and they have tons of cash now.
C - Ever heard of Windows Phone 8.1? When did the last time you checked a Windows Phone forums?
D - Samsung is feeling the heat not because of the idea going through in your mind, it's facing the heat because of it's own assumptions went wrong. The operating expenses went way ahead of the initially assumed which were not recovered as they were meant to be through the number of unit sales. The main reason is the time-to-time flagship duration which is very low in case of Samsung. People had just ended up seeing the recent variant of a Samsung Galaxy S4 in September and the Note 3 came in October, now considering people bought S4 and Note 3 in millions. Does people still got cash for an S5 or any other phone or why will they buy any other phone over their currently capable smartphone considering most of the flagship phones are being sold on a contact of 2 years. When you are jumping into conclusions based on "What you think", make sure there is a valid logic behind it.
Now, if you talk about Windows Phone. It's not Android. Android is on the edge of it's success and may be there are not chances of more. There are a limited amount of people using smartphones in the world. Considering from 100%, 85% have Android, rest 5% and 10% respectively have a Windows Phone and an iPhone. Do you think the OEM(s) behind those 5% and 10% market shares will try to increase their sales or sitting their hands crossed seeing their ship sinking?
The success, just like that, is not unlimited. It's bound to turn backwards somehow someday considering the case of Nokia. Nobody have ever thought it would have been sold out today in 2013, 7-8 years back. While on the other hand, Windows Phone has just started to move upwards. When a company is moving upward, it does know how to put efforts to drag it into the right phase and if the company is as rich as Microsoft and as hardworking as Nokia, the success and rise is bound to appear.
For increasing your information. It's not "Samsung Android" who is at top of the sold Android devices in India. It's Micromax. You are talking about may be your own country and you are lacking statistics. Please be more precise and accurate with your assumptions.
AnonD-159182, 07 Jan 2014Windows phone8 is best in the worldyou are joking:))
Initially even android struggled in its first two years between early 2009 to 2011. now as its been almost 5 years it got matured .
However my feeling is even windows will take over android by 2015 ending atleast..
tremendous significance in year to year growth...
Windows is fluid like feather even on low spec phone its amazing...unlike laggy and sluggish android running on few low end models regard less of which even manufacturer they belong to...
But only with Nokia it got so much popular...then just waiting for SONY to announce its first WP ... :)
deepairdiver, 07 Jan 2014even though Android rules the roost at the moment Windows WILL OVERTAKE Android relatively soo... moreHopefully not, its the most closed operating system. Every win for W8 is a loss for the consumer
this guys are really crazy
the iphone is 700$ phone in those places.
and the only lumia selling is the 520, that is sold at a loss
2014 will be the year of fall for WP.
a) Tech savvy users are not gonna buy WP because they will wait and see what's MS' next move (after buying Nokia).
b) Asus Zenphone and Moto G are shaking up the low end market. Lumia 525 will feel the heat of the competition.
c) Hardware improvements are gonna be quite less in 2014. Software is where most of the improvements will be. WP8 will need to improve a lot to hold onto the market.
d) The smartphone market is slowing down. If someone as huge as Samsung is feeling the heat, I wonder what will happen to MS.
In India:
1) Samsung Android
2) Chinese Android
3) Nokia Lumia
4) Sony/LG Android
5) Feature Phones
6) Blackberry
i think microsoft is presenting wrong statistics.
So as a summary: iPhone sells better than WP8 in 200 countries, even though it costs six times as much.
Protocol, 07 Jan 2014Cool. Let's hope for more improvements in WP OS. I'm from South Africa and it seems the 520 is very very popular although I'm an iPhone owner and please South Africa ain't a small country actually we have an established communication system and networks that can compete worldwide our major carriers are Mtn and Vodacom (which is owned by Vodaphone) and We have Virgin mobile as well.please do proper research before posting on gsmarena.also note south Africa's economy GDP wise is amongst the top 25 and our stock exchange is valued as the 14th biggest and we have very modern cities
Give it a year or two and Windows Phone will surpass iOS world marketshare.
Pakistan is quite big at 200 million population, some other countries are quite big too and combined they are significant
