AnonD-223659, 13 Jan 2014Funny how people judge Windows OS for laggy or Nokia for being bulky phone. Funny how people d... moreAgree, with almost whole your comment.
But still, huge bezels and sealed design, omitting two very important features for the high-end phones, was fail.
And most important: MS pushing away the other OEMs with Nokia, was huge mistake. It was not good for Nokia , too.
AnonD-27765, 12 Jan 2014"Cartoonish OS" best applies to Android. Windows Phone 8 is professional-looking.Lol what a joke funky colored tiles are professional. But dont forget android is awesome, it is already great looking(minus touchwiz, optimus UI) but can mimic virtually everything incl. Ios, wp, ubuntu etc. Power of Android.
Funny how people judge Windows OS for laggy or Nokia for being bulky phone. Funny how people don't understand the world they live in. Funny how close-minded these people are.
Have you guys seen Lumia 1520, Lumia 1320, Lumia 625 or Lumia 1020? They are slim phones with great specs. Also, that Lumia Icon, 5" display that is slimmer than your asses? Nokia learned from it.
Windows laggy? Seen some post here that WP is laggy. Of course you know that is laggy, 'cos you never owned one.
Yes, it is, users of WP are still limited. But this metro UI is being copied by android and IOS. Yes, windows foreseen it, that flat design UI will be the next big thing! Have you guys ever noticed that 3-dish, heavy gradients are not that cool anymore? Yes, those are the days you thought that WINDOWS are failing for having that kind of UI design. LOL!
You laugh at me coz I'm different. I laugh at you, coz you are all the same!
"HTC tried and failed, Samsung tried and failed"
No one of them tried seriously. They see that MS favor Nokia, and they just step out They just made some device to keep the place in case, and that's all.
Nokia only make sealed , big bezel high-end devices.(By the way SONY are same)
If MS don't let real competition there- they should close the WP.
Without real competition in WP- no success.
AnonD-43136, 12 Jan 2014And what can Sony offer? Nokia cameras are far better, screens are better - one of Sonys weakn... moreI'm pretty sure most nokia phones have some of the biggest bezels in the market
I don't know why Sony would bother with WP. HTC tried and failed, Samsung tried and failed, Nokia bet their business on WP, and had to make it work.. and failed.
WP marketshare is still tiny after 4 years and the only phones that are selling are bottom of the range cheap £70 phones. Sony have said they are a premium brand and WP is not premium, its low end and cheap.
It would also probably have all kinds of Xbox services, Sony would be shooting themselves in the foot promoting their competitor.
Now im using lumia 1520. If sony release wp8 phone just like the xperia z1 hardware. I will buy it period and no question ask. I love nokia snd song. Samsung? Nah. I have had it with samsung. Thier phone befome more crsp every year. I
Kai, 12 Jan 2014Wow now a sleek glass-aluminium unibody with a cartoonish OS. A match made in heaven. LOL."Cartoonish OS" best applies to Android. Windows Phone 8 is professional-looking.
And what can Sony offer? Nokia cameras are far better, screens are better - one of Sonys weakness! Huge bezels is what Sony specializes in! Maybe get a walkman app but they just dont produce great walkman phones anymore! The Live with walkman was an end of an era - some may say that w995 was the last great walkman phone! Give us a walkman windows phone and you may pull me away from android!
MS did big mistake, favoriting Nokia from very beginning. This pushed back all the other WP producing OEMs. Even now , that MS owns Nokia, they must try to give Nokia good competition.
I like Nokia, but making sealed high-end devices with big bezels in not winning formula. WP even good, needs to punch the market, so the devices must not cut out any functionality. Selling nice low-end devices is great. But only the high-end devices can give the popularity.
Unfortunately , SONY goes same way.
And it's even more apple-ish with this sealed glass and same big bezels.
They should not follow Apple with their "premium design" hype. It works only for Apple , because they own the zombies and the "hairdressers". It doesn't work with common ppl, to convince them that tin-can, glass, or sealed devices "feel premium".
We know what happen with HTC One. Right? Even all the media armys , didn't help AT ALL- no matter how organized and restless they were.
Wow now a sleek glass-aluminium unibody with a cartoonish OS. A match made in heaven. LOL.
If Sony does well with the phone design, working with Ms, they will link PS3&4 to games users experience.
Good strategy
Soon I want to see a phone running both android and windows...O:)
Smart move! Wp needs lesser effort on sw integration...as hw is more or less uniform. Sony could churn out considerable number of wp devices quickly...which means people would have more and more wp choices apart from MS devices! And sony's reliance towards google could be reduced. Huawei could follow suit as already it has couple of wp8 devices. It would be a win-win for customers with sony's move!
cant wait to see brand new WP8 or W8.1 phone from Sony. :/
I don't mind, Sony had already produced some good Android flagships. There's nothing wrong with brand expansion to other OS. Maybe Sony can produce some good WP phone, we don't know.
Good luck to Sony, I hope they can do better than other companies that already in WP.
AnonD-61776, 12 Jan 2014Why? I'm in my second WP now (Lumia 920), and I love it. It's very simple, very user-friendly.... moreLumia 920 totally freaked me out, so annoyingly slow UI, it gave me an itch on the inside of the head, very weird feeling. If MS will continue to insist on forcing users to watch painfully slow animations instead of taking advantage of powerful hardware then i will surely never buy a WP device. So lets see how WP9 pans out next year, im not hopeful but its too early to judge it yet.
Since WP8 doesnt require much programming work i think Sony can get away with this, the losses will not be substantial. The Xperia lineup is generating profit and now the write-offs for the buyout of Ericssons share should be more or less completed, then profits increase so they can afford a flop or two.
I think Sony is very aware that WP is a budget phone OS but they will probably aim higher than that and not offer anything as pathetic as 520/525.
As for the Vaio brand, it does get somewhat watered out by relations to WP, i been buying Vaio computers by default but this may make me consider another brand next time. I may also rethink my Xperia preference, i have changed brand preferences before and have no problem doing it again.
AnonD-115431, 12 Jan 2014Won't buy because it's Sony.. Their quality is so bad in terms of hardware... Will buy if sams... moreTerms in hardware??? are you from mars?
