Sony is really giving some serious competition. If I were Samsung I would be a little nervous.
Sony Phones are good and very user friendly. But now we need Bezel less (zero bezel) phone.Bezel free technology is today's trademark. But all Sony phones (including Z,Z1,Z2) has a Big bezel which is very disappointing.
And Its Camera is good but not enough for a 20 Megapixel Camera.Even HTC's UltraPixel Camera are very effective than Sony Z1.
But after all Sony makes good phones.Xperia Z was a very user friendly phone.
I am using a HTC One And a Xperia Z from Last one year.I think Sony is Better except the Camera Quality.
boriinnnggggg bring Z2 mini, with 4.5 180p screen same specs and smaller profile than the z1 mini and then things will get interesting!
One of the new effects is Timeshift, which records 720p video at 30fps.
Is that a typo? I'm hoping you meant to write 60fps or 120fps there.
On top of that, the Live Colour system that really impressed me on the Z2 is on offer here as well. It's quite similar to Super AMOLED, in my opinion. Sony subtley tried to say that this was making LCD a little closer to Samsung's technology but without making the colours look so over the top. I don't think that's the case at all.
Either way, the Live Colour system gives you the feeling that watching movies on this thing will be a real treat - it makes colours really pop.
If you imagine that Sony had never made the Xperia Z1, and just jumped straight here from last year's decent Xperia Z, then I'd be applauding the firm for coming in with a 5.2-inch screen that delivers great colour reproduction, tons of strong features and an ever-increasing connection to its entertainment network and accessories.
Sony Xperia Z2 review
Perhaps it's better to let the phone speak for itself. After all, this is a flagship phone that has had a huge bulk of the issues from the Z1 upgraded and improved.
I've mentioned the screen, but let's start there, as it's the element that most impressed when picking up the handset. The display is one of the most crucial parts of any phone, given you'll be spending oodles of time starting at it, and the 5.2-inch IPS LCD display here delivers a really strong performance.
It's not just the IPS that helps (although its omission from the previous two models was horrendously obvious, creating a washed-out screen effect) but the Live Colour LED technology used on this screen really helps make everything look a lot better.
The 'trick' here is that while standard LEDs are a blue diode with a yellow phosphor on top which alters the wavelength to create white light, Sony has added in red and green elements to create a display that really pops with colour.
It's claiming that this helps make everything more natural, more true to life, without being over-saturated (while it didn't mention Samsung specifically, this seems like more than a subtle dig at Super AMOLED screens which place a strong emphasis on boosting colour to the point of overdoing it in some people's eyes).
Placed side by side, the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2 are markedly different when viewing the same image or movie. More detail is shown in your snaps, and while Sony clearly chose the image below to show off the improved red and green performance, it is impressive how different the two are.
THE BIG DADDY IS COMING BACK AND SONY BEATS OVER SATURATED SUPERAMOLED BY BIG MARGIN :d
I am so happy I didn't get the Z1! Finally gonna get myself this phone once it is released! I love Sony and Nokia! The Lumia 1520 that I have is one of the best smartphones I have ever used and it has one of the best cameras out there! Good thing Sony is keeping up with the game using an IPS screen on their phone! This is a monster! Samsung and Apple for sure are having a run for their money! ;)
I like how subtle and BEAUTIFUL the design is. The front facing loud speakers? Where? Well, it's there- it's just indiscernible. HTC One, please take note. I am just surprised people haven't caught on with the Sony design bandwagon.
I really didn't like the shape of the phone. Compared to Z1, width is decreased and height is increased as it happened when apple moved from iphone4s to iphone5, which I didn't appreciate at that time, too.
Don't forget it's certified waterproof... not warranty. If your cell takes water in they will say it's your fault for not closing the ports properly and deny warranty.
Let's just wait if any would present a phone with ipxx certification. Then compare. Lg fans should keep their mouth shut, lg had optimus j(only sold 3 pieces), and it's the most horrific phone with water and dust proofing.
I wish Sony had gone with a xenon flash instead of the 4K video. How many people today even have a 4K TV or want video files of such an enormous size? Xenon flash would improve every indoors photo taken by every user. Maybe in a few years 4K video will be "the thing," but xenon flash technology today is so superior to LED flashes. Rats.
why sony phone are very bad
i had xperia z the speaker is low the battery is just 3 & half hours in 3g internet browsing
the camera is not good also.
why sony is bad? why? i paid over 600$ for my phone.
loco-loco, 24 Feb 2014What a crazy... I'm glad not to buy Xperia Z1 or Xperia Z1 Compact! In what way does this compete with Z1 Compact? I think people will continue to buy Z1 Compact, and i see no reason why they shouldnt, Z2 Compact is still far away.
But yeah you should be happy you didnt buy Z1, what a repulsive oversized phone it is. Z2 fixes everything except the length but since it has a bigger display the length can be forgiven.
What a crazy... I'm glad not to buy Xperia Z1 or Xperia Z1 Compact!
