Well I didn't call it 'almighty'. I just said the 5800 isn't their first touchscreen phone.

Just like how "some" people got brainwashed about a good "phone" must have a good cam, good internet connection, good CPU/RAM...etc...with almost nothing being metioned about the voice quality.

Some people flocked for certain brand's "camera line" phones (not the almighty this time), well knowing its phones, especially those with "bar" design, would capture so much background noise to the point the person's own voice can hardly be heard.

Yet a good number of people are still saying..."yeah, this phone is good because it has an 8mp cam..."

Maybe I'm really getting old...

if a screen is required to be touched in an manner then it is called a touch screen

multitouch,TouchWiz,TouchFlow,TouchPark are all methods and ways the touch is Incorperated with the User

and N770,N810,7710 are all still considered full touchscreen since the is screen is being physically touch with an object

According to GSM Arena here, 7710 was "announced" in Q4 2004...and probably was released in Q1 2005, which runs on 2G only.

The brand which released its first (if not the world's first) 3G touchscreen handset back in Q4 2003, and released its first "color mon" touchscreen phone (2G) back in Q2 2003.

We all know how much the almighty brand CARES the needs of different customers by releasing phones like

- supports only GSM 900 & 1900. (no GSM 1800)
- records video with no sound
- more 3G phones withOUT video call capabilities than other brands
- touchscreen which only recognizes "writing" but NOT operating other functions

Yeah!

Nokia did release a touchscreen phone (7710) a few years prior to the iphone. Since you almost never hear about this phone I can only guess that it either did not sell very well or perhaps was not marketed properly.

Why does Nokia (or any other phone manufacturer) need to have an 'answer' the the iphone? Why can't they just make their own devices? There's nothing wrong with a little variety and believe it or not, not everyone wants a touchscreen phone. Some people still like buttons too.

do you even know the facts....nokia made touch screens more than 5 years ago(check 7710). but back then touch screens werent popular.
and the n810 tablet was announced before samsung, sony, lg announced their touch screens.

so whats your point if the 3g phone came a bit late than the others.
