Sorry HTC.. Have bought M8 for my lil bro, looks nice.. Actually looks damn nice but i still prefer S5 becos of more features and better Camera.. Waiting for Electric Blue S5..
Not sure if that's worthwhile. I mean s5 is one big disappointment this year. Sony xperia z2 seems like a more worthy contender. I hope HTC is making the right move going all out on samsung
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2014Good phone. Only if they can make it available in the countries like ours(South Africa).Hold your breath it is coming. HTC for life no matter what
This is not good for HTC actually since HTC materials leak and not others. In my country (Sg) HTC One M8 come up with 16 Gb and S5 is 32 Gb (they switch position from last year) and the pricing around the same. If Nokia hadn't announced 930 which made me waiting, I would take S5 any day (the only Android Flagship with 32 Gb). HTC sales material don't work for me.
The HTC M8 is fantastic, but according to me, it is nothing compared to Samsung's S5.
FIRST COMES BODY AND WEIGHT.The M8 has an aluminium body, but the S5 is 15 gm lighter(Thanks to plastic),but if you are desperate for the shine of fine metal, just get an aluminium back cover. The S5 is also thinner, providing a more premium look. WINNER S5.
EXCLUSIVE FEATURES.The S5 has fingerprint sensors and is dust and water resistant like the Z2, making it more robust, while the M8 got none.WINNER S5
THEN COMES THE DISPLAY.In this case, the M8 and the S5 should be considered equal as the S5 has a slightly larger screen and weaker display quality(5.1 and 432 ppi)compared to the M8's smaller screen but better display quality(5 and 441 ppi)The only difference is in the display type used. The S5 has a AMOLED screen while the M8 has a LCD3.DRAW
SOUND,MEMORY,DATA.In these fields, the S5 and the M8 are bosses in their own ways. The M8 has twin speakers at front while the S5 has a single small speaker at the back. The memory characteristics of these superphones are exactly same, avoiding competition. Then comes the data. The S5 has a feature called dual-band in the WLAN sector but I think this advantage is negligible.WINNER M8.
CAMERA.The S5 beats the M8 by a mile in this corner. The S5 has a 16 megapixel camera compared to the M8's pathetic dual 4MP camera. The sensor size and the pixel size is also better in the S5.It also has better camera features and video quality. The only downside of the s5 is the 2MP front camera compared to the M8's 5MP.WINNER S5.
FEATURES.The S5 has more sensors including the amazing heart rate sensor. It also has some basic features that are not avaliable in the M8.The only letdown of the s5 is the unavailability of radio.WINNER S5
BATTERY AND PRICE.The S5 in this case has a 2800 mAh battery but gives almost the same amount of backup as the M8's 2600 mAh battery due to the large screen. Now comes the price. The S5 is a lot more expensive than the M8 around a $100.WINNER M8.
VERDICT.The M8 is a very good competition for the S5 but not good enough. It easily gets dominated by the incredible 16 MP camera, features, lightness and thinness of the S5.So I would suggest that you should get the S5 the next time you are looking to buy a high end smartphone unless you have a limited budget.
In my opinion, before HTC tries to convince people about buying the m8, they should convince their customers about their exaggerated price!!! They do not have the latest tech or specs (if u consider xperia z2) and their devices are the most expensive ones with the worst resale value. So HTC should think of arranging an acceptable price for their phone before convincing ppl not to buy the s5.
I think that Sony Xperia Z2 is propably the best Android Device this year. Design plus features....
I've had every galaxy s phone. and was a fan of Samsung. And no doubt there phones r great. but went for the HTC m8 this year for2 reasons. 1: touchwiz is awful packed full of stuff I don't use ugly and outdated looks. 2: Build quality every year was waiting on Samsung to Change the design and every year the stick to the same plastic build quality. Loving the m8 sure the s5 has some better software tricks but the overload there phones with it. The HTC m8 on the other hand keep it simple fast and gorgeous something Samsung can learn from in my opinion.
It was going to be my phone. But that camera is a deal breaker. so its the s5 or z2 for me. Im no fan boy ill buy the phone I think is best. ive had htc but let when they stopped sd card slots. ive got s3 which is great but front facing speakers are good.
waterproofing would be great too........so I think on paper its the z2 for me. but tbh you cant decide objectively until all three are on the table and in your hand
Thats fine all looks good but investing in both phones at around 50k what are the benefits
One of the major problems with Samsung seems to be the build quality and with HTC M8 is that it does not have some must required features like water resistance, I guess if charging so heavily and the competition is fierce why not have that included in your product
Good phone. Only if they can make it available in the countries like ours(South Africa).
Samsung with its low quality phones, new bounding policy (region lock) and faked high performance phones should leave this market for Apple and HTC, or revise their strategies and change their approaches for producing high quality and responsible flagships, otherwise for making low quality phones with latest high tech processors and specs form other companies (such as qualcomm) they did not do anything special, and I can compare their products with no-name Chinese producers.
fan and already,! but such a model is süper nice and design of HTC, the first time coming into the world.
m8 over s5 :
-more natural and better ppi screen
-better material body
-better speaker with boom sound
-better call quality
-most refresh and smoother ui
-more options for camera with great effect
-better front camera
s5 over m8 :
-Smart stay, Smart pause, Smart scroll
-Fingerprint sensor (PayPal certified)
And In the end.. smart people will go for Z2, even though if not in majority, and without the need to childishly compare, Z2 objectively surpasses both of these in techs with better camera, stereo speakers, 3 gig ram, IP rating, and overall design
