I myself buy smartphones for what's inside. don't really care if it's plastic or metal, as long as it's top-notch. besides, knowing HTC and their attention to details, it won't look cheap - even if in plastic.

If customers prefer an affordable M8, HTC will make it cheaper. One way to make the device cheaper is by plastic body.

HTC One M8(plastic body) = Samsung Galaxy S5 (also plastic body) but at more affordable price like $450.

HTC always listen to their customers!

I know that this round M8 is again the winner for this gen, maybe Z2 can take over if they manage to fix their supplies and heating problems

This just goes to show that Apple could sell the iPhone 5c (the plastic version of the 5s)a lot cheaper than they are currently selling it.

Hahahaha, really I lol'ed when reading the headline.

HTC, let me advise you, if you want more people to buy HTC M8, first thing first get rid of those empty black bezel with HTC logo.

Next, make the overall bezel slimmer. It's ridiculous when you using a strong metal body for phone but the bezel is thicker than similar phone with plastic one.

Do those 2 things, then we can talk. Otherwise it won't matter plastic or metal, your M8 will always suck.

As has been said before,
Everyone can slap a metal to their phone,
But not everyone can make phone with thin bezel.

I think it's a good move. The M8 bis just overpriced. The design is quite nice but compared to the M7 there's a huge bezel now that the bottom space (where the HTC logo is) is completely unused. And the 4mp camera...no good for a 700$ phone. With the lower price it's a really good option and not everyone wants a metal phone.

There is already a more affordable One, made in plastic.. It is called the Cubot One, and it'll still be cheaper than HTC.
