as a side note. a big congratulations to the indian government whose inept and corrupt nature, deftly robbed themselves of future tax income. not only this, but soon several hundred/thousand employees are going to be out of a job as nokia announces the closure of the chennai factory.
subsequently, expect an announcement from the indian governm in the coming year or two about some kind of special retroactive "exit tax" for closing down the plant.
Microsoft still use the Lumia name for their phones and same Nokia people still make those phones. They will have awesome phones coming out. No secrecy like it used to be between Nokia and Microsoft.
tmp, 25 Apr 2014i really wonder why most people in the world use ms windows os and still they completely ignor... moreNot because they dislike Windows Phone. It's because they have never used it or never heard of it.
i really wonder why most people in the world use ms windows os and still they completely ignore the windows phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why do you have to show your degree of dislikes for windows phone when you are commenting on this page by using the windows computer?????? just a thought..... ;);)
I will be rocking my N95 this weekend in memory of the handset maker who was for 20yrs THE only brand of choice for me.
I think Micros is dreaming in till shape and few colours and like a software king just want full control and to put his mark on all computers, tablets, phones same like Googl.
Very curious indeed, lets see what will happen after a couple of years. Viva Nokia !!!!
As long as the hardware is Nokia iam good I would love a window logo on my phone at the back though than it will be the old ms and apple war
May the service and device be the same, still the name NOKIA will have the reverse impact, we all are fond of NOKIA.
May Nokia start to make phones again in 2016 with Symbian and Sailfish OS. Writing this from my Nokia X2-01. Still using the Nokia N8 as my daily driver because of its magnificent camera and the smooth and resources efficient OS, Symbian.
advice, 25 Apr 2014RIP nokia,u once ruled the world. i am blaming the person who chose the ugly windows phone os... moreIt was no accident. An ex MS employee chooses Windows phone and does everything he can to run the company down so MS can buy them cheap. Flop is laughing all the way to the bank. Never mind all the people who lost their jobs as a result, he is doing alright and so are MS.
That Iconic Tune Made Me Cry!
I have been on a fence about WP in general but reading about WP 8.1 and testing the latest Nokia phones i have a feeling maybe this wasnst a bad move after all. Nokia makes great quality phones and WP is actually pretty nice now with the 8.1 update.
As long as MS dont mess up the brand and dont change the name and the team behind the wonderful phones i think this merger will be a success story.
I just ordered a 1520 (Yellow) myself and hoping Nokia will remain Nokia long after the merger.
Anonymous, 25 Apr 2014RIP Nokia, the first phone was a Nokia.i meant to say my first phone.
RIP Nokia, the first phone was a Nokia.
AnonD-103438, 25 Apr 2014yes Nokia Lumia was a hit...but nobody like Microsoft LumiaHow can you call it a success?
It was the Lumia brand that pushed Nokia over the cliff and in to yaws of Microsoft.
In the last years of the 1990s and the first years of 21 century.
Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia were the three bigo nes of cellphone/Mobile phones.
Now only Motorola is still standing. They been bought by Google and been sold again to Lenovo.
But they at least release Motorola phones.
(Motorola quickly jumped on the Android bandwagon like SonyEricsson now Sony).
pureview, 25 Apr 2014I think that MS will be having a hard time selling phones without the NOKIA logo on its phones... moreyes Nokia Lumia was a hit...but nobody like Microsoft Lumia
Better days ahead nokia. Its sad to see you go. Forever in our mind. Nokia! Nokia! Nokia! Voice from Nigeria
AnonD-257836, 25 Apr 2014This is so unbelievable...!!! I am very much disappointed at this news flash. I think SONY is ... moreGive BB10 a real chance, its a great OS and Android app compatibility is good and getting better with 10.3. Its the best OS and the phones aint bad also. Now a 1.5GHz dul core may not sound impressive but theres 2GB RAM and the performance is very much impressive in real, QNX microkernels based OS runs very well on this seemingly low specced CPU, much better than ny quadcore A7 midrange Android phone does. So, the BB10 phones are much better than what their specs indicates.
If people are going to underestimate an OS make sure its not BB10, its smooth and fast and efficient to use. Gesture based aint bad, its much better than Nokia N9 (which i have also owned) gestures, BlackBerry didnt invent gestures but they made them useable in real life, keep it simple, its basically only a swipe up and the other you be using often is swipe upwards and turn right to enter Hub.
