Dave, 09 May 2014Who cares everyone with an S3 can upgrade now to an new S5 or whatever phone. But not everyone wants to upgrade the hardware. The phone is just 2 years old and was pretty expensive. It is already working fluid, so not everyone sees the need to spend another $500 for mere improvements, whats so hard to understand about that?
Dave, 09 May 2014Who cares everyone with an S3 can upgrade now to an new S5 or whatever phone. I care, because i can't upgrade. I am going with the One+1 though.
What a shame, really. Guess I'll have to switch to Sony now. Oh well, great move anyway!
The only reason they are doing this is because they are trying to make people buy the S5
I have a galaxy gio running on android kitkat. Yes it's a custom ROM, but if kitkat works on a phone with 276MB RAM than surely it can work perfectly on a phone with 1GB. After all kitkat was designed to work on phones with half as much memory.
Exactly the same lie about RAM limitations was told to us Galaxy S (I9000) users about ICS. Then few weeks later they release new ICS/JB phones with same specs. What BS!
Also KitKat was build to run on older hardware (with 512MB RAM) just fine.
Scamsung is just scamming people to buy their latest and greatest S5. :(
This samsung poeple are stupid. Galaxy Ace Style has a 512mb ram and have kitkat. But S3 wont get kitkat that has much more ram.
Who cares everyone with an S3 can upgrade now to an new S5 or whatever phone.
All that crappy bloatware negates the purpose of kitkat which is supposed to run good even on low spec devices.
I thought KitKat only needs 512MB RAM? Bloat much Samsung? :P
Touchwiz+1gb RAM=512MB RAM.
and People give crap to Sony for not updating Xperia V and Xperia T.Atleast they are updating Xperia z and zr
The internal Samsung document from which this information is drawn suggests that Samsung are unable to get Touchwiz working properly on KitKat for the I9300 due to RAM limitations, which is annoying as Touchwiz is a pile of crap and Samsung should stop forcing it down their users' throats. Apart from the fact that it's UGLY, it also makes the Android experience slow and laggy. Samsung should provide a Touchwiz-free version of KitKat for the I9300, and while they're at it, strip out all of their crappy, loathsome bloatware. If they did this, they'd have no problem getting KitKat onto the I9300.
thats so bad kitkat could run on devices with only 512mb of ram while sIII has 1gb of ram so i think samsung is a big lier i hate from samsung and sIII was my last samsung device....from iran
