Samsung does not deserve the attention they get. Piss poor performance in hardware and software. GS3 was my last, never going to look in that direction. I hate it when thier ads go on air. All cheap lies.
after getting I9300XXUGND2(which is a bug free 4.3 update) update ....now i dont need any kitkat .....my phone works like cham now ..out of 831mb/540mb ram is used .......i m loveing it ...here is the link u can also install it http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/galax...date-1447032
Even new entry level phones with 512ram have kit katt and Samsung claims that a two years old flagship can't run this OS. Shame on Samsung, don't exepect to get upgraded if u buy a Samsung midrange, that's way I got a new phone with kit katt and after a year I will sell it and get one with the new OS.

So it's bs. But not because of touchwiz itself as trolls claim.
But just bs of Samsung.
However I'd like to see all the other phones getting the level of updates of the S3 and S4. And timely

This is a lie move on Samsung...
However..It's just pure BS because even Touchwiz would run decent on it.
gurum, 09 May 2014dont cry if you own a sammy junk.... go get a LumiaTalk about junk and you can talk about WP and Lumia.
Browser with no forward-backward navigation buttons.
Can't save media files from e-mails directly to your phone...need to save it to a computer and then sync the phone to your media library.
No file manager (which old versions of MS' smartphone OS had).
It's a joke of an OS. I'd rather go with the Asha lineup or the Nokia X with 2nd tier hardware before I'd get a Lumia.
This is Samsung's fault, not Kitkat.
To be more precise, it is Samsung's TouchWiz that's heavy on phone resources and cause a lot of lags.
According to original Google's KitKat specifications (https://developer.android.com/about/versions/kitkat.html), "(...)Android 4.4 is designed to run fast, smooth, and responsively on a much broader range of devices than ever before — including on millions of entry-level devices around the world that have as little as 512MB RAM(...)".
So, how Samsung can honestly say that 1GB is not enough when Google says that KitKat can run on 512MB devices?
BTW, CM11 (kitkat based) runs quite smoothly on the International Galaxy S3 with 1GB RAM.
Shame on Samsung for such poor excuses...
Oh, and if they say that 1GB is not enough for KitKat, while minimum specification requirements say 512MB RAM, they must consider about using less bloatware and making TouchWiz UX lighter.
Gotta call BS on this one. Google has made a dedicated effort to make JB and KK use fewer resources than ICS and the 3.x predecessors. What does use a bunch more resources is the Samsung UI.
Looks it's going to be the Cyanogenmod upgrade path for the 9300 owners.
"The Galaxy S3 and S3 mini 3G versions come equipped with 1GB RAM, which does not allow them to effectively support the platform upgrade."
Then why are they putting 512MB RAM on Galaxy Ace Style and Galaxy Core 2 DUOS?! If these two devices run watered-down version of KitKat with TouchWiz, I don't see any limitations for them to water-it-down for S3 and S3 Mini.
At least S3 got updated to 4.3, while it's little brother S3 Mini is stuck to 4.1.2. Great.
BS act by Samsung, apple is very nice in terms of updates. even their iphone 4 got iOS 7 update.
[deleted post]Calm down Sir. Does Samsung have the title of the best smartphone camera? Does their build quality come close to Nokia? Not that I own a Nokia but give respect where respect is due
