Anonymous, 12 Jun 2014OnePlus is a tiny Chinese company barely 5 months old. I'm sure as they get money from their O... moreSadly by that time, one plus one would clearly be history, been searching for a single invite for ages to no avail, attractive price tag, but seriously, waiting so long is punishment, am out!!!!!!! But still want an invite though ;)
REDbWs, 13 Jun 2014I just said S5 cause it's at the same price point as other major manufacturers flagships. Sony... moreCanada has such a small and spread out market the only way they can make money is by selling at higher prices (and then raise duty taxes to also stop you from importing).
I usually look at a Hong Kong/Chinese grey markets as a good untaxed price indicator. In that case, a new S4 in the local grey market goes for under $400 USD now, while a S5 is less than $550.
AmateurHistorian, 13 Jun 2014By the time you can buy this phone Galaxy S5 will be $300 new and $180 used.Really?
Here in Canada the Samsung S4 is still $500 brand new.
mir, 13 Jun 2014He didn't say that hes gonna buy an S5 though... Was that the best phone you could come up ... moreI just said S5 cause it's at the same price point as other major manufacturers flagships. Sony, HTC, Nokia, LG, etc. are all around $700 here in Canada.
"I do not get invited, so it must be a bad phone."
The life span of cell phone is so short, buying it by invitation doesn't stir up the demand, but causing buyer to have negative impression on it.
Xiaomi is one good example, people waited 4-5 months to buy one phone, but new model rolls out on the 6th month, fool me once, not second time.
Note2 was sold and received many positive feedback because it was widely available, for people who have used a smartphone, $700 is not something that is totally unaffordable. Sorry, I don't own one either, this is a bad phone.
Angry Mobile Nerd, 13 Jun 2014Actually there is a large group of people from a certain country which the OnePlus One hasn't ... moreWe are swooping up Moto E, Moto G, Nokia 525, 625, 630, Lenovo S660, Micromax, Lava, Karbon, Gionee ... so many value for money choices in the market other than the big guys. Even the big guys Samsung, Sony, LG all have great value devices released - in addition to the Apple 8GB. So lots of choices available. This product would have been revolutionary at the price point 3 months ago. It a now still born as flagships have moved to QHD and other goodies ... so at best this is now a midrange device in current terms ... so too little ... too late :-)
A pitty... I have waited too long for this device to get into the "invite" system only to find out that they do not have and will not have units to fulfill the orders.
Will buy something else for now and maybe I will get it once it becomes available w/o an invite.
This was cool.... 2 months ago, let alone the markets that is hasn't been released into....
Might make a good Christmas present if you order it now.
Jason Melling, 13 Jun 2014Too little too late. People have moved on. A dead phone.Actually there is a large group of people from a certain country which the OnePlus One hasn't even been released in that are *still* waiting and begging on forums for this phone to be released in their country at the equivalent USD 300/350 pricing. All of them, fools, because neither are going to happen anytime soon.
I can't say which country otherwise my posts always get reported, so I just refer to it as the 8GB iPhone 5c country, I'm sure you can figure it out.
People really need to factor in the opportunity cost of waiting months on end for this VS buying something available now which they can start using and enjoying immediately, albeit more expensive, but you get more, too.
REDbWs, 12 Jun 2014That's the whole point... Why pay $700 for a Samsung S5, when you can get this for $350?By the time you can buy this phone Galaxy S5 will be $300 new and $180 used.
Yeah!!!! 100 phones after 2 months. Maybe I will receive mine in December 2017 if I place an order today.
