meeuw, 30 Jul 2014would directly deliberatlely snap, crack, break any phone thats like 20 cm long and 6 cm wide.... morePreviously I bought a phone about each year.
But one hand operability is a MUST to me, and as this has been available with mediocre specs only for years, I have had to wait....

And typing heaven is arrived,... mm sweetspot prbably @ 64-66 mm wide @ 4,5 -4,7 inches where you got a good balance between ergo 1 hand action n typing comfort. 4,3 inch is a little to small imho for typing
Eske Rahn, 30 Jul 2014Spot on!
(As long as it don't get so long that there is a risk of breaking it)Saw you here for the first time, surprising.
Regarding the phone, I believe we have a good contender of the iPhone 6 here( though I believe apple A8 will crush snapdragon 801). I'm also waiting for the galaxy alpha and want it to have FHD.
Anything upto 67-68 mm is easily manageable with 1 hand if it is slim enough(
Eske Rahn, 30 Jul 2014Spot on!
(As long as it don't get so long that there is a risk of breaking it)would directly deliberatlely snap, crack, break any phone thats like 20 cm long and 6 cm wide. just to get it out of this world. regardless the owner ^^
Wow you are a long-waiter also for a new phone. I try to buy something in the next 12 months or so with the aim to use it like 4 to 5 years ..!

meeuw, 30 Jul 2014hEe Eske,
calculations from big picture i get 2,053 ratio and indeed seems that from 4,6 in... moreMy measurements where not exactly accurate, so your numbers could be closer to the real thing. But nice anyway.
And yes we can hope this will be the end of "Phablets only"-craze when we are talking high speced phones.
Don't misunderstand, Phablets are fine for many, but not for me, so let us have variety!!
I've been waiting for loooooong to find a decent successor to my ancient "Xperia Pro" (Xperia Neo with hardware QWERTY)

May I have your opinion on plastic designs as well.
Anomynous, 30 Jul 2014Its nice to have a little side bezel for grip but top and bottom shouldnt be too big. Like iPh... moreHonestly I have never have problems with top/ bottom bezels.
Side bezels hurt the pocketability and handling of a phone.Changes to the top/bottom are only aesthetic.
I would substitute thin bezels with large vertical ones on any day, if I am getting stereo speaker functionality to go with it.
redX, 30 Jul 2014See the pics, GSMARENA have also mentioned it "Keep in mind that the device in the photo... moreYes I noticed the case. I just thought there would a thin cover on the front and back glasses to protect it from shattering
Eske Rahn, 30 Jul 2014I got the same limit for one hand operation. :)
But a 4.6" 16:9 display is 57mm wide, ... morehEe Eske,
calculations from big picture i get 2,053 ratio and indeed seems that from 4,6 inch diameter scale projection onto phone's width i see its ~63,2 mm wide. and about indeed 129 mm high ... THATS DECENT ! still dont like ratio but ok.
This is an 'attack' on iphone 6. Samsung doing the same with the Galaxy S5 Alpha? Aka Neo? wich has top chiipset sd800 and 4,7 inch screen (HD) .. so almost high end device
Conclusion: tHAnks to Ergonomical new iphone 6 @ 4,7 inches
a whole bunch of high(er)-endish phones is comming to us AS AN COUNTER ATTACK i guess, and finnaly we are free of 5 inch or bigger clumsy phones hehe
Still hanging on NOkia N8 here, > Camera, built as a Tank, Navigation, All else works fine n Fast enough to me, USB otg, HDMI etc etc
btw, what device do y use right now?
darkgamer, 30 Jul 2014Are you the same Eske Rahn as in the blog??????Yup :)
Androidaholik, 30 Jul 2014there is a phone just like that, it was released last year, called the sony xperia z1 compact -_-2Gb and simple HD in 2014 at flagship prices?? No thanks...
Anonymous, 30 Jul 2014what do you mean by transparent back cover? something like a protective film?See the pics, GSMARENA have also mentioned it
"Keep in mind that the device in the photo has a transparent case"
I was wondering that this device is not out yet and there is already a transparent case !!
Anomynous, 30 Jul 2014Its nice to have a little side bezel for grip but top and bottom shouldnt be too big. Like iPh... moreNonsense. Missed the part about stereo speakers? Where would you put them if not there? And the worst thing for small hands is width not height. Small side bezel is much more important
West, 30 Jul 2014this is a phone for people who prefer compact but powerful phones. in fact, even 4.5"+ is... morethere would be no point for a 1080p at 4.3" phone. your eye wouldnt even see the difference plus its more power hungry. youve got a smaller battery and a more power hungry screen: not really good for extensive use eh? xD
