Given the company's links with Symbian over the years it appears surprising that more is being invested according to this article in Android rather than Symbian. It may well be that Sony Ericsson will want to emulate Samsung and support a multitude of operating systems as well as its own. Incidentally its own propietary user interface is one of Sony Ericsson's biggest assets. It is fast and responsive.

I hope that they don't mess with the ui too much. I like how android looks. Although following the cupcake preview, a new keyboard wouldn't go amiss maybe?
