MaxSmarties, 23 Sep 2014Only in your Samsung dream...If you actually read the source article, you would see for yourself that it's clearly stated that the iPhone 6 has the best LCD screen (specificly LCD technology) but not the best overall screen, the Note 4 does.
popye, 23 Sep 2014Objectively speaking, the iPhone 6 is overall the best smartphone right now - display, design,... moreHow is that "objectively speaking"? It's completely subjective and only your opinion.
To me, the iPhone can barely be considered a smartphone, given how much they limit what you can do with it.
Let me give you comments about what my opinion is on things you said:
"the iPhone 6 is overall the best smartphone right now - display, design, build quality, camera, OS, UI/UX."
Display : well it's already been proven that this is not the case, current generation Amoled screens are still far superior.
Design : this is a matter of tastes.. I don't find it ugly, but I think it lost its uniqueness. Before, you could recognize an iPhone really quickly. Now it looks like a lot of Chinese phones (some of which look good as well, again I'm not saying it's ugly).
Build Quality : the build quality is good, but not better than Samsung flagships (not talking about design here).
Camera : really? have you seen comparisons with the Galaxy S5?
OS : please, let's not go there, it's the main reason why so many people will not get close to iPhones.. It's way too restricted.
UI/UX : again, I don't get it.. you open the app list on Android, and it's the same as iOS' "homescreen".. just a list of icons.
Another big problem I have with it is the back button.
In any mobile OS, it is probably the most used button of all. On Android (especially Samsung devices for right handed people since they place it to the right), it's conveniently placed at the bottom right to be used easily with one hand.
Also, it's always the same button, with no exception.
In iOS, it's most of the time on the top left corner (I say most of the time because I've seen exceptions in some apps, which really should never happen).
When the iPhones were small, that was ok since you can still reach it easily with the right hand, but now that they are a lot bigger (+ huge bezels), reaching the top left corner with your right hand holding the device each time you want to press the back button seems like a pain to me.
Is that a good thing according to you?
So, no, what you said is not objective at all.
Most of what I said is also subjective (my opinion), though some things are not.
To me, the iPhone is not even an option (even if it was a lot cheaper than Samsung flagships) because of those reasons.
Another thing you said :
"Apple is always either 1st or 2nd when it comes to having the best display every year so no surprise here. The iPhone 5s also had the best display among all smartphones released last year."
Just reading this article is enough to know it's not the case (just look at the S4 and Note 3 for example) :
"With the rising competition, Apple lost the lead in the past year or so, with most other Android manufacturers having better displays on their phones."
You know what? It's funny that IPS LCD are the most accurate displays but have the worst black levels and Oled screens have the best black levels and worst accuracy. I'm surprised by the contrast levels of iphones! IPS almost always means bad contrast and bad black levels. Look it up. Samsung made OLED with great accuracy and apple IPS with great contrast.
klaus bohm, 23 Sep 2014Note 4 rules supreme NO ONE NEEDS GET DISTRACTED BY the all invasive APPLE PROPAGANDA http... more... except Soneira never said that and it's just a speculation by the article's author
Lee, 23 Sep 2014y is apple still focusing on LCD technology? others already having Super AMOLED displays , 4 G... moreOled it's not ahead of LCD. It's just different technology. You'd be shocked to know that professional monitor panel still are IPS and not Oled
still note 4 is the best mobile display and that was said by displaymate and they didn't change that here they only said that the I6+ is the best lcd note 4 is amoled so stop arguing
And apple iPhones both 6 and 6 plus they have only 1gb of Ram, don't forget when you decided to pay for them such big many 779 euro.
Sekki, 23 Sep 2014Lol apple paid large sum of money to DisplayMate, might as well change the name to iDisplayMate xDI'm quite sure you did the same comment several months ago when they spoke well about galaxy s5.... Oooops
It's funny how so many haters accepted the lower contrast display of the iPad mini Retina, and bashed Apple for it, yet now the SAME site praises an Apple display, they are accuszed of being bribed..
Nothing beats the Super Clear LCD of my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 with a pixel density of 359 ppi. Though its not a smartphone. LOL
Are 1080p videos now clear in iphone6?
HD videos look terribly on iphone5.
The S Pen function alone can kill the iPhone6 single-handedly..
Is there anyone who does still beleive displaymate ? If you want to test a display go to a phone shop and test with you own eyes.i don't think that someone blond will use a phone so rely on your sight. Here in Italy you can test any available high end phone as you want as long as you don't break it.So displaymate shut up and shut your fake labs if you even have those
popye, 23 Sep 2014Note 4 display is only good when new. After a year or two you will notice an obvious deteriora... moreReally? I'm not noticing that deteriorstion on my over two year old Galaxy S3. Several generations old, still looks as good as the day I bought it (which, admittedly, is nowhere near as good as the S5/Note4 screens)
