a friend of mine has done it just yesterday when she got it from usa, and we live in argentina, so it would've been impossible of her to callme if she couldn't unlock it ;)

Some friends tae these 2 wrong, jailbraking and unlocking
a jailbroen handset could be unlocked
i did it for myself and 2 of my friends 2day and all of them work fine.
i used pwnage tool 3.0 (instead of redsn0w) to jailbreak the phone.
DFU mode is not needed in this case you have to enter the restore mode
Here are the steps:
1- Make the custom IPSW file (using pwnage tool)
2- Enter restore mode: (holding both standby and home buttons when turning on and releasing only stby button and keeping home button held till the restore screen appears "connect to iTunes")
3- Restore your phone with the custom OS install file.
4- add (http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com) in Cydia sources.
5- Install ultrasn0w
6- Restart your handset

How come you tell people not to use redsn0w, that's what mentioned on the dev-team website, redsn0w can be used even if it was unlocked with a previously released yellowsn0w
please do your homework before misleading people

Mate. Read the bloody annotation below more carefully next time. It clearly says that "Activating a factory unlocked iPhone 3G S doesn't need any utilities of the sort." How the heck is this fake? This is just saying that if your 3G S is legitimately unlocked, you won't be required to use any utilities such as ultrasn0w.

After reading this article....i updated my iphone 3g bought from UK to os3 and jailbreaked it via redsn0w and then installed ultrasn0w sucessfully.....its cool

No more need of the turbosim.

what about if i have an already jailbroken iPhone 3G that works with a turbo sim, and now i want to upgrade it to 3.0 and keep it jailbroken...what do i do??
