Sony phone that I have is way better than the Samsung sg4 I used to own. Sony z series are good phones.. Don't listen to this guy.. Probably works for competitor. Sony phones are only just getting recognition for being good... And they are good... Bit more than Samsung's etc but worth the extra.. Forget the Viki's from other phones.. Sony make phones that work and are built well. End of day choose whatever you can afford... But don't slate a good phone manufacturer. Rant over.

If the current android version works flawlessly, what is the need to upgrade to new android version and end up having bugs if it was not tested properly? Most of the apps which people are going to use - they are not going to change the functionality of those in any significant way. So what the fuss is all about updates? Even apple's updates screw up the idevices more often, then comes the patches to fix those. And they are the best in OS updates. That should mean something - about the quality of OS updates from other manufacturers.
Xperia SP is not a flagship phone, no need to bother with updates.
Pay top dollars for flagship phone before you start crying for any latest update.
Hey you, XP guy...you re really getting anniying. Didnt get the latest update? Nobody gives a sh for your loss. Get a life instead
Don’t fall for this folks! Sony will soon diminish from phone business very soon. They will not offer software support if they do release new updates be assured that it will be buggy. I WAS a sony fan and now I have stopped suggesting any Sony products.
My Xperia SP was promised KitKat update but it was canceled. It started with Jelly bean and left with Jellybean. Though expensive for the specs it had I bought this phone for the KiKat promise that never happened.

im going to buy a xperia z1 this Monday, is that better i stay and i buy after sony upgrade for this Phone? or not?do i buy now? wich one?!!!!Pls suggest me!
Wow that is great news.
Thank you Sony. I really love my ZL, it is still the smallest 5" phone around.
Of course faster would be better but in the end I got official Sony ROM running 4.4.4 and now you will update to 5.0... Big thank you.
As for the hatters troll etc. sorry for you difficulties but you still have the best support of anyone excpt a pure Google Nexus phone.
I really like the light Sony overlay and near google experiance phone.
I will probably now keep my phone till the Z4 arrives.
The only thing I really want more from my phone is bigger/better camera and Front facing speakers.
Why did everyone copy the bad iPhone design of the speaker on the back?
Sony Please put stereo front speakers on the next phone.
A happy Z Ultra owner :-D
To all those denying the fact that Xperia SP was indeed promised the update to KK, just go to the internet archive and take a look to the older version of the Xperia SP official support page.
First the KK update was a given, then it went to "under investigation" and finally it became a "won't do".
Early adopters of the phone will remember this well because everyone (with a Sony badge and under Sony payroll) advertised this as a fact during the sales pitch -- and many did indeed fall into their promises.
Luckily I knew better than to believe in a "make believe" company.

You are already with KK and, given that Nexus 4 will get Lollipop, there's a good chance the Optimus G will too.
Even if it (officially) doesn't, the simple fact it's an improved Nexus 4 in disguise will make ROMs like Cyanogenmod work amazingly stable on that phone.

Sony will update entire Xperia Z line to Android 5.0 Lollipop- the headline is well explained yet there are still idiots! 'Cmon move forward guys, new hardware will have new software,. its so awkward to see old hardware with new software right? things might just get buggy. 2015 is approaching embrace whats on your platter.
