Nokia N97 get an official firmware update, piles of fixes ready - read the full textLess than a month has passed since the Nokia N97 hit the shelves and here comes its first official firmware update. Bringing a whole load of bugfixes this new firmware should have a pretty positive impact on user...

I am just amazed by the number of problems, errors in the n97 phone. Shouldn't Nokia perform a very comprehensive UAT (user acceptance test) internally and externally before releasing/launching the phone to the market? Or we are just guinea pig as the pioneer owners of n97 to help nokia test their phones? I wonder.

Come on Nokia, surely this is not acceptable right!?

such a waste, i am a NOKIA fan but this is nothing for a flagship

already got N85 so N86 isn't an upgrede.

haven had anything new since my N95 8GB.

great so now we wait a year for the next Flagship with the real specs.

Just cause it has a Qwerty and touch screen don mean its the Ultimate phone

don care about MPs but video and WIMAX and better battery has to be next

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-07-01 23:59 from q{XwNokia marketing is not well informed and refuse to change for the enjoyment of the customer. Considering the Philippines as an Asian country. Yet Nokia Marketing still limit themselves by not accepting and delaying customer plea. Considering that Philippines is also a big market also. Philippines have many new Chinese Immigrant that comes from Mainland China. Yet they dont sell Nokia phone with Chinese interface capability. Its just a matter of shipping some of their phone sold Taiwan, HongKong and China. But upto this present the Marketing department still refused to make necessary adjustment.

i agree, nokia should get things at least mostly right before releasing a major flagship...what an embarrasing letdown to have to keep making minor corrections here and there when it's supposed hit the iphone head on. i'm no iphone user or apple-fanboy, but at least their phones are at least 95% stable with what it has when released

Some of you do realise that Nokia has more than likely been working on this since launch of the N97 don't you !? You'd be a foll to think otherwise and besides do you really think that this firmware would be out within the first month if they were not already working on most of it.

> In reply to costa @ 2009-07-02 01:39 from tA8mYou will need to do it via the Nokia Software update on your computer. It is not available over the air in Australia yet.

My phone is working sweet after the upgrade.

I think people complain because they have nothing better to do!

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-07-02 00:40 from pJX9That is why it is called "Caller ID". The information is sent by phone company. N95 shows caller id name and number when ringing, but only number part is saved into call log for numbers not on contact list.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-07-01 22:24 from q{XwIf you don't have the contact name stored on your phone with the number, how do you think it is going to display the name? By reading your mind??? Even Nokia can't pull off this little stunt, although i bet the fanboys would have you believe otherwise...lol. Silly question really, unless you assign a name afterwards, then the call logs should get updated with the name.

wats up with u'll nokia? its like they weren't ready for the june/09 launch even doh they've advertised the n97 almost a yr ago. but its too late now and the phone is to expensive bcuz apple, LG, SE and samsung introduced some uptodated products with beta UI ,specs and performance so come on nokia u cant be depending on an outdated headset to conquer the market "new ideas" .u knw wat it really dont matter bcuz its NOKIA n I'm gonna get one Anyway...been waiting to long to get one even doh it might turn out 2 be a crap phone...

When apple release a product, it's allways stable, when they release an update, it adds new features
when nokia release a phone, it's software is unstable, and when they release an update, IF they release an update, it's to fix what was broken, and it's still broken after the update

You can't predit niggle's on the masses, their test device may simply not have had similar issues. At least their trying to address the issues. The real issue is in the hardware though
