this model and the similar 1200 have a fault with the gree answer key. only when answering a call it does not respond. thus not allowing one to answer the call. but no problem when dialling.
to add to this problem the 'any key answer' function is not available on this phone.
A great basic GSM entry-level phone. Earpiece and speakerphone loud and clear. Bright clear display. Ringtones could be better though. CSTN display is not bad considering.
Guys, to change volume of handset, use the left and right navigation key while making a call or on a call. Hope this helps. To change ringtone volume go into the menu.
Phone is basic, cheap and nifty. All my wife really needs.

Lousy hp. auto restart plus toggling to the menu whenever you are using any application.

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2008does it work abroad? like europe? i can't find anywhere that says it is dual band.Specs say:
General 2G Network GSM 900 / 1800
GSM 900 / 1800 are the two bands it supports, so, yes, it is dual band and will work in Europe. I don't really know much but I think most of US and China are a different story 'coz they use a different standard (different from GSM) or band.

Anonymous, 01 Jul 2008Thanks shadow :) Two more questions.... when i see the specifications for Nokia 1200 a... moreBTW, 1200's battery lasts a little bit longer because 1208's display uses more energy. Difference wouldn't be that big so if you like 1208, go for it; you can do away with a little less standby time for a screen that's more pleasing to look at.
