Excellent keypad. It was stolen from a bastard. Now I am happy with a 1209 but keypad isn't like the 1600 one.

I lost it and I'm very sad, because Nokia doesn't make good basic phone longer :)

I have purchased it 5 years back and still it is working very well. Whole-heartedly I like it.
Nokia should made such kind of cell phones again and again for the benefit of middle-class people or who wish to purchase simple cell phones with required features only...

I've had this one for about 2 years and it's been very good. The battery lasts a long time, usually for about two weeks. The best thing about this phone is that the keys are sturdy and made of hard plastic, making it good for text messaging. Before 1600 I had a Nokia 1100 and the keys were made of horrible soft plastic that's really hard on your fingers.
I switched to Samsung E2210B for a while but writing text messages made my thumb hurt, so I returned to this one.
Want a basic phone with unbeatable battery life for calling and text messaging? Get this.
Want a phone with MP3 ringtones, bluetooth, 3G, WLAN and a camera? Go look elsewhere.

the very best I have owned because of the loud speakerphone I can hear it on boat in car in factory
I have discarded many new phones which have lacked this basic feature - ease of answering and audibility
al the new phones eg MP3 players are inaudible on speakerphone and there is nothing wrong with my hearing I just do not like half a watt of radio frequency energy cooking my brain - using a speakerphone reduces this by 75% the further away I can hold it from my brain ( and ear) the better
also the most reliable because I look after it and it looks after me
