I have bought this today. It's working good. Rings very loudly & keypad is also good.This is made in hungery.

Bought this phone through 7 eleven speak out wireless. Buying the 100$ prepaid card this phone cost me 29$. It is well worth 29$ with no contract signing. The keypad sucks and it doesn't even have T9 (predictive) texting. But the battery life is awesome, I can go 3 days without charging and I only loose 2/6 battery bars and it takes me all of 15 minutes to charge it again. The reception is pretty good too. My office building is notoriously bad for reception, but I have no problems. Lastly I don't even notice it in my pocket it is so small. Another cool feature is that when the screen is asleep it has a transflective clock in the background so it is clearly visible even in the brightest sunlight.

All that being said, I plan on buying a different phone (had to buy a phone to get on with speakOut, when really I only wanted the SIM card) mostly because of the small keypad and the lack of T9.

if you want high or loud ringtones try to connect a speaker or buy yourself hearing aids

I have 1661 with TMobile. The phone was working fine, now it asks for the security code every time and there are no ring tones available to choose from. Does anyone know how to fix this???

This phone is rubbish. Keypad too small and low ringtones.

As i mentioned below if you want a good basic nokia with comfortable keypad and loud ringtones then buy the NOKIA 2323 or the NOKIA 2330.

I have a Nokia 1661 but the speed dial set up in the shop is incorrect. How do I change a number or name in speed dial I cannot find a delete key and the * button does not work with speed dial it only says ON Off Edit and Edit only says assign or back. Help would be appreciated

Plus points: long battery life, big sms memory. Negative points: very hard keypad, there is no numburing of messages in inbox.

Please people dont buy this phone.. please dont.. you will suffer like me.. I sold this phone within 3 days and bought Samsung 1210.. and Believe me samsung 1210 is 1000 times better than this piece of nokia's Sh*t..
The Problems in Nokia 1661
disgusting keypad
low ringtone volume
poor vibrating
when i got to contacts by pressing the shorcut key it hangs.
msging is pain in a**
even its torch is so sick it comes out like a Horizontal Line.
YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY IF YOU BUY THIS.. BELIEVE ME
if you are a Hardcore Nokia FAN still buy some other Nokia Phone Not this one.

Anybody wanting to purchase a good basic phone should NOT buy this phone !

I have recently tried a nokia 2330 in a shop and this phone is excellent.

The ringtones are LOUD, you will not miss a call.
Also the KEYPAD is comfortable with decent sized keys.
These are 2 important factors to consider when buying a new phone.

If you want a good basic phone then go for the nokia 2330. I think that the nokia 2323 is the same too as they are very similar phones so it should be a good buy as well. WELL DONE NOKIA AT LAST !

the default security code for nokia cellphones is 12345

1661 phone is a good but if display brocken it not possibal to change. and sound also is very poor and key pad also is to hard to press.
