It can record One Hour of sound - that is quite a lot, but the sound recorder is not so sensitive and the vol is very low.

you can easily upgrade your firmware through this Nokia link. it will take some time depending upon your connection speed. No need to take out your memory card or anything. Your phone data remains intact. However after the upgrade, your phone returns to the Nokia basic theme.

my PC doesn't recognize my phone anymore, and i can't use the nokia PC suite coz it can't detect any phone. now i can't install games, update, etc. can someone help? but it can be used as a data storage and for printing and media. it's so frustrating.

@RBa,
dude, by the way, are you using your phone as a modem or you browse using your phone? i like to ask how much is your download rate because i just realize using edge makes a lot of difference. when updating ubuntu 7.04 (i have not yet upgraded to 7.10) download rate is just around 3 - 5 kbps! almost like dial-up but has a stable connection. with edge, i have 9 - 14 kbps of download rate. i really miss the edge connection of smart. smart is the only edge capable network in the philippines.

yeah, the best way to get in touch with samrt is through email but sometimes they are not giving enough or "false" information. this is the weakness of smart. customer service unlike globe which very much values customers. if i just don't use my phone as a modem, i would be a globe subscriber (i hope globe will have the same rate soon).

Try asking other people about the firmware update because i can't give an advice to you about that since my phone's preinstalled firmware version when i bought my set was already v.5.50. But i think it is highly recommended to upgrade your firmware version since most of the users that posted here that have updated their firmware observed some major improvements... And if that's the case, the only way to upgrade your firmware is to take your set to Nokia. Remember to store all your files first to your PC before taking it to them.

I haven't registered on that promo yet. I'll try to register soon. Yah, you're right. Smart's *888 is pretty useless because lately, i tried to call them. I called them at 8:00pm. I thought it is a 24 calling service, then how come no customer service representative would attend my call?. How would they bare with it if s0mebody's in trouble at that time?.

Hey All,
I too had this issue with Nokia 3110. One resolution for that issue I found is like,
1. PLEASE KEEP ALL UR SONGS UNDER "Music" folder in the SD Card.
2. DELETE ALL SUBFOLDERS OF "Music" Folder.
The device wont get that much task for updating the Music Library next time.

hillo to my fellow MPSCian.....i brought this fone last dec first week, its very nice, the feature where actually like 6300 n 5300 fone...but the price is less. Aside from that it design was elegant and comportable to the user, one thing that i observed from this fone is the memory that being used when you took a picture...it consumed big part of your fone memory....compare to 6300 it consumend only 40 to 60 kb....but with this fone it consumed 150 to 400kb....can you give an idea why is this happen?

yeah, that was before december that i am having full time edge connection and the speed is fast although not comparable to dsl but up to 2.5 times faster than dial-up. how i wish that edge will return to normal. as for other phones, even if your phone is 3g you can only have 3g/broadband speed when you are browsing within your phone however if you use is as a modem, data rates will depend on hardware it can support, for us it is gprs/edge. i don't actually use the browsing function of the phone because i use it as a modem.
by the way, did you register to the smart promo's internet browsing? i registered but everytime i check my points it is still zero. i think i already have more than 20 hours of data/modem time. i already emailed smart about it but still no reply. smart's *888 is no use.

Maybe you should now try asking Nokia Care. Ask them about that but be sure to reside all your important datas and files to your PC. All of the files including music files could be erased. If you take it to Nokia Care, be sure to explain your query thoroughly. Don't worry about their service, mababait sila.. Minsan na ako pumunta doon and guess what, they said to me that they will still honor the warranty even if your phone got dropped. Only that, make sure your phone was not dropped to the water because dropping your phone to the water tends to be the only way for the warranty to be unhonored. Good luck...

uhm, one thing also. .
I can't update my phone software which is v5.01 to v5.50 because updating it would require a minimum of 256 RAM yet mine is only 224 RAM. .
but wait, is that true that v5.50 is MUCH better than v5.01??

the fone is great. compared to 5300, it has the same features, yet the price is comparably lower. to me, it is the best model, so far, that nokia has introduced, in terms of over-all functionality and utility.

Yes, but not totally lost. It always switches itself between EDGE and GPRS. I observed that Smart's EDGE signal gets weaker and weaker each day. And now i'm starting to miss the full time EDGE connection before in the first week of December. :-(
