other than the amount of memory the specifications are really good... basically who ever buys this would only really require the rugged build + the ability to make and receive call...

any discrepancies please add on...

I am still using Nokia 5100 and love it, I passed the upgrade to N5140 and now disappointed by the N5140i. I am so much looking forward to Siemens M75. Nokia should know that Brand Loyalty is sacreficed if they don't keep up with the compition.

I rather choose Siemens M65 or Upcoming M75 than this Nokia phone! Trust me you will not dissapointed by buying Siemens product, especially for it's 'M' series with additional extra tough, water resistant, dust resistant, shock resistant!

and btw real climbers & trekkers need 2-way radios rather than mobiles and both sports are kinda expensive so you still need to slave in the office and rather spend extra $200 on a good crampons that on a spare "city" nokia with bluetooth. why can't we have grades within the rough zone - i.e. 5140i and something as rubber but with 6230i features and ok - more expensive? otherwise will have to use 5100 for 10 years, god bless its durability

What Nokia really needs to do is release a series 60 version of this phone with quad-band and bluetooth support. If you really are an outdoors person into adventure sports, then arguably it is even more important to be able to have smartphone functionality than if you are just someone whose biggest adventure is taking a tube ride to Hackney because out in the brush you don't have the luxury to carry a lot of stuff like a laptop. Everything needs to be as self-contained as possible to maximize capability with a minimum of bulk but a maximum of ingrained toughness. This is what I thought the remit of the Symbian OS was supposed to be: a close substitute for a full-on PDA. With that said it is lacking a little in the connectivity options. Apparently Nokia likes to think that people interested in 'adventure' have no interest in toiling much beyond their shores or at least not much beyond major cities in the Americas. The inclusion of the all four bands would have been nice so as to make a mobile suitable for true globe-trotting adventure, which is what most adventurers really seek out. This is one area that Moto has them beat in spite of the fact that they have don't offer any ruggedized handsets (a shame). As for those of you who don't see a need for this kind of device, I would argue that even people who don't intend on trekking through harsh climes would be well advised to use more robust mobiles than the flimsy stuff out there now. Would be an shame if all those fancy RAZRs and 8800's ended up bruised, scratched and dented on the floor of Starbucks as reaching into our pockets to pay for the double-mocha latte we let these expensive digital toys get real airtime.

Very disappointed, been using Nokia 5100 for
2 years now and waiting for a worthy replacement. I think I will wait for the Siemens M75 and have hands on comparison and then decide. Unless I can find 5140 for a very decent price,If not will buy a new shell and battary for 5100.It stills serve me well in the desert.

not an outdoor person, as the phone looks ugly and the extra features is for a person whos hiking in the mountains. UNLESS you mean an outdoor hiking person then yes.

ohk to the post below about the "Do Nokia want people running with wires all over their body". Im sure that Trapers and runners wont need bluetooth!, nokia has a range of handsets, you just dont need to pick on one of them, its rather sad, i find this phone to be a perfect outdoor phone, nice attractive design, ohh no so it doesnt have bluetooth, also "Ohhh the screen isnt 208x208 pixtels". That is pathetic, if you want a phone with a sharp clear picture go for the 6230i. Ill say it once more for you thick people, This phone is for outdoor people not phone freaks, and a VGA camera with 3x zoom With video up to 3 minutes on a 128x128 pixtle screen with 65k colours is perfect for an out door person

Could have been nice 2 years ago. But now why bother making such an "update" ? The saddest thing is that Nokia always find people to buy everything it makes. Must be kind of fashion i guess.
