I bought 5233 on Cash and Carry Mall in Makati PH. It was a very good phone. Affordable and Lightweight, Genuine. The package does not have any cable or extra battery cover and memory card, but it has the additional stylus and the 5800 protective cover. I soo love this coool phone!

The 5230 package will come with earphones, 2gb microsd, strap w/ plectrum, battery, back cover with stylus, and 1 yr warranty from nokia care and 1 sim card from smart with free fridays promo. And 5233 is not better in any way than 5230.
i think people are confused between 5233 and 5230. i mean, why post comments on your experience on 5233? this is 5230's forum. =/

This phone (5233) is very classy even it costs only for about 7200 pesos here in the Philippines. The internet is kinda slow because it has no 3G/HSDPA. I bought mine on Nokia Care. I think that the prices may vary because when I go to Greenhills in Nokia it cost only 7000. The screen is not scratch proof so please take care of the screen or buy a screen protector. Just giving tips! =)
malcolm, 18 May 2010its a joke seriously why wouldyou want tomove from the jet to this baby phone really?well, for one, samsung's support isn't as good as nokia's. one example is the fact that i can't update my firmware online by myself without voiding the warranty. i had to bring it to a service center and leave it there for a day while my 5230 was updated within an hour, via internet, in the comfort of my own home without voiding the warranty and without having to deal with rude service center employees. =)
second, jet's screen is good because it's amoled, but lacks customizable features. it goes as far as changing the wallpapers of three homescreen but not changing the phone theme (well the phone comes with pre-installed 3 themes, and they're not any good) or the arrangement of the menu icons, without upgrading to the latest hacked firmware (and risking your warranty). also, screen orientation is painful with jet as the main menu doesn't rotate when you rotate the phone.
third, jet is not a smartphone, something that i'm totally shocked at first. it doesn't even have a copy-paste feature, which for me sucks big time. it's hard to find applications that will work perfectly with jet, unlike the symbian-powered 5230.
fourth, jet's battery life sucks big time. with moderate usage, it lasts for a day and a half. 5230 lasts longer than that, with heavy usage. =)
i only had samsung jet for a month (less three days that it spent with the service center because i was frustrated with its battery performance and outdated firmware), glad to have sold it for like 1,500 less than the price i bought it. no regrets switching from jet to 5230. glad to be back in nokia's arms. =D
i wish to buy one cause there is a price cut here in manila. the only downfall for me is that it has no infrared and wifi. but its looks trendy and now has a reasonable price and basically has the great features of a touchscreen phone.
indieover, 18 May 2010is it 5233 that you have one now. where in the philippines did you buy. i am planning to buy s... moreAn unsolicited advice: buy the 5230, and NOT the 5233. You will enjoy the full benefit of 3.5G and free internet via OM mod (see symbianize). At Php1000 difference, the 5233 would be lacking in the network speed department here in the phils. Buy at fonerange or edgecom branches as they sell the 5230 within Php6900-Php7200 price range.
Tany, 18 May 2010R u guys sure dat 5233 has no gps?as 5233 is also known as 5230 nuron, forum nokia has publishe... moreThe Nuron is not 5233. It is a 5230 that was branded/released as 523
Nuron in the US as carried by TelCos lile AT&T, and the likes.
I just can't understand that how it is possible to get this type of nokia handset for only rs.7400/-. And nokia delivered the 2mp camera with the handset can easily beat any 3.2mp camera of samsung. Though sound is not so good but anyone should forget this with the flexibility of the handset for a lot of features. The web browser is just fantastic. After buying the phone the features get the mind of a samsung user at this point are, the camera, screen resolution, screen sensitivity, web browser, screen size, baterry life, and after all the name nokia for a verry little amount of expenditure. Mainak, a happy nokia 5230 user.
buddy, 18 May 2010how to check d speed of the card, where is it written? hlp me plzHey buddy..... It's written either on the card itself or on the packaging. It's written as class2 or class4 or class6 with the numbers written within the alphabet 'c'. It only applies to sd HC cards and not sd transflash cards. The higher the class, the faster will be the read and write speed. 5230 and 5233 is fully compliant with sd class 6 cards upto 16gb. So it safe to use an 8gb class 6 card with no compatability issues.
Rohit, 18 May 2010Hi SidewindeR,
I wanna buy an 8gb memory card for my 5233xm; so I checked for Sandisk Clas... moreRohit mate.... Class 6 memory cards are very rare. There is no way i can get one in my town. Here shopkeepers don't even know the diff between a class 2 and a class 6 card. That is why i ordered mine from ebay. Even in the ebay india site, there is only one seller who sells genuine class6 8gb cards. And the one i bought is transcend. You are real lucky to have found one. My experiences with transcend cards are quite satisfactory. I'd prefer transcend over sandisk. I'd suggest you snatch it as soon as possible. I have already filled up half my card with about 600 mp3's synced via mediaplayer. Even with that much files, it still runs atleast 25% faster than my 2gb transcend. The speed improvement is appreciable and i already feel the difference. Music shuffling, file browsing etc have become a bit more snappier.
Yes it does cost a bit more but in the long run it's definitely worth paying that extra bit. Tell me how much the seller is charging... I bought it for 1200 try if you can get it at a lower price than that.
Even nokia recommends class6 cards. Now i know why they do so. You see these are things ppl don't take for granted and later complain having got a sluggish card and blame the phone for it.
Tany, 18 May 2010R u guys sure dat 5233 has no gps?as 5233 is also known as 5230 nuron, forum nokia has publishe... more5233 has only a network based GPS means it can track position by using location of cell tower of network operator but it has no AGPS (assisted GPS support) where phone connect to stationary satellites to locate actual phone location. AGPS is accurate and doesn't require data connection. But 5233 can be connected to external AGPS capable chip via bluetooth to track satellite based position.
While 5230 has AGPS facility in build.
