Rasheed, 25 Feb 2010the music icon is not apperring in the home screen while music is playing in the back ground ,... moresorry man my mistake..
did u mean the music player buttons?
if so.. u can use contacts bar as your home screen theme.. under Settings> Personal > Home screen > Home screen theme and use Contacts bar.. now you can see the player while playing ur music..
if u want to see shortcut icon for playing music then it is also located on ..Personal> Home screen > shortcuts.. i think it is limited to 4 shortcuts only.. ;)
Basically, I think this is Nokia's answer to the Genio, by Samsung. Now what I think Nokia should do, is create a Nokia 5230-QWERTY, and a Nokia 5230 touch with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Personally, I prefer the Nokia to the Samsung completely; the way it looks, the way it works... everything. If I was looking for a new phone, and I had to choose between these two, I'd definitely choose the Nokia.

There is live video streaming on call option in this fone, which is technically identical to video calls. But since there is no front cam, it's utility is somewhat limited..

piya, 26 Feb 2010hello can anyone tell me about this phone???hw is it?? is this phone worth buying???m planning... moreIf you just want a phone to flaunt than you can choose 5233 as it is around Rs 7500/- in India. In that price you get many other phones of Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung that will be equally good at what you want.
5233/5230 is more about functionality and is excellent value for money. It actually gives whatever functionality you can get in the price. It is a functionality heavy kinda "geek" phone in an affordable price.
Looks are somewhat ordinary but you can see for yourself (for a better look at the handset click here : http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_...pin-2909.php )
It is not meant for careless use as its front is dominated by the 3.2" screen, thus its more prone to scratches if not taken care of. Also its somewhat bulky @ 111 mm x 51.7 mm x 15.5 mm. One of the biggest drawback is that it doesn't has a keypad so getting around that means a few touches before you can reach the on-screen keypad function. Also the camera is an older generation one and is probably one of the worst on a 7.5K - 8k phone, it has no auto focus or camera flash. In that price you can get 6303 with better camera @ 3.2 MP with auto focus and dual LED flash (just to name one). And another drawback worth mentioning (we certainly don't want another disgruntled buyer to come and spill venom against 5233/5230 on this forum) is the audio output through its speaker. It is loud enough (with complains on every forum about difficulties in turning off the alarm in the morning. That could be taken care of but it does tell you that the speaker is loud enough to awake you from sleep. Its only that its not clear enough when loud. Its a mono speaker.)
If these drawbacks doesn't concern you than you can go ahead and buy 5233 or its elder brother 5230 (that comes with an added functionality of GPS voice navigation). It is certainly value for money. Without a doubt. And it has a cool screen, excellent video playback and recording capabilities, excellent audio output from the audio jack (can be experienced through better headsets) and gives you access to some amazing apps for your phone, motion based games etc. If you wanna experience a touch based device than go for 5233/5230.
So make your choice.
