Samsung and LG on the other hand were into the touch screen segment with WinMo devices. Touch Wiz that you see in Corby first made an appearance in Omnia i900 that was running WinMo 6.1.
So yeah its difficult to get a functional touch interface ready quickly to be revolutionary.
But I guess with N97s Nokia is catching up and now with N900 it has probably the most versatile phone cum internet tablet in the market. That's sure revolutionary stuff.

And its not fast internet, its more like "future ready" in India atleast in comparison to 5530.
But 3G is available in Mumbai through MTNL. And also in Delhi.
5530 on the other hand has WiFi so that means faster broadband internet but only at Wi-Fi hotspots (or near a Wi-Fi router)
So, again (...phew) it is about "individual choice" : Wi-Fi or 3G/GPS etc.
Price I think will be higher for 5530 XM because it has 3.15 MPx camera.

@Farhan, internet is said to be fast on 5230. Is it because of the 3G or 'class 32' GPRS? If the latter, then 5530 cancels out its advantages in this regard. And 3G is not yet available in India, so this should not be the reason.
BTW, can any1 tell me the selling price of 5530?

I recieved three back covers, data cable and ac charger with mine.
Mine has a white front though I am in Australia so maybe we get different than other countries? I think it looks sharp and classy...
I LOVE IT!!!!!
I paid $299 (aus) with a free unlock at vodafone as I could not find any other store in my town that sold this phone.

I am from bangalore and I bought this fone yesterday thats Jan 10 from "The Mobile Store", Mathikere for Rs. 8299 (including 4% VAT). You can get this handset at this price from any "The Mobile Store".
Even OneMobile is offering this handset @ Rs. 8249 (all inclusive), but I would suggest do buy from The Mobile Store, as i am having a bad xp with OneMobile.
For more just search for my name or the people who have bought this handset in the "search opinion" box and you might get some really useful information regarding this handset.
can you please tell me , where did you find the lowest price in Bengalore, Which location , any shop?
Waiting for your reply!!!!

I truly agree with you. A windows or an Symbian mobile is made to experience to the fullest. And installing apps and using them is one of the most important aspect.
And Every mobile has its own pros and cons. And it is you who must know how to optimize cons to pros. I am a happy Nokia 5230 user and i no more barge over the low audio volume of the fone.

People who think they'll never install a Symbian software shouldn't consider buying 5230 over Samsung Star or Corby or even LG Cookie.
But read on this forum, there are pretty well informed people who have bought this phone (and no one's regretting it, by the way).
Its what you want from a device that matters and that should be the only criteria for buying a particular handset.
If you like Touch Wiz's one touch access you can go for Corby.
But you can't deny that there are positives of 5230 over Corby.

Thanks for your reply for the price of this mobile in Ahemedabad.
But, can you please tell me , where did you find the lowest price in Ahmedabad, Which location , any shop?

I got my 5230 on 09 Jan, the white version with pink back cover, at 190 USD. It comes with a built-in stylus, 2GB of memory card, cable and spectrum (also in pink).
Below is my brief preview which might be useful for those who are considering purchasing this handset.
1. Call quality through the earpiece is very good
2. Worth every penny you spent
3. Good speed compared to 5800
4. Screen brightness is very good although it seems to be a bit pale in colour
5. Good build quality
1. Camera quality is low (but it doesnt matter to me coz i already know about that and do not expect much from it)
2. When playing music and song, volume through loudspeaker is lower than average, but it is surprisingly louder when playing Midi and ringtones. I have no explanation, but hope that Nokia will be able to improve this in the next firmware. Sound quality through headphone is pretty good and the handset should be branded as "XpressMusic", but i dont know why it is not.
3. Battery life seems to be moderate although it's my 3rd day using it only.
I would be happy to hear from other owners of 5230 and some of you who might want to know more.

Sorry, somehow i skipped your query. Well from my personal experience i wrote that "..charge the phone for at least 20 hours before the first continuous use..".
Well, I have been an avid Nokia fan from the time when Nok 1108 was released. I have experienced 4 Nokia mobiles till date. And all the shop personnel had advised to charge the cell for around 20 hours before the first continuous use. I am not sure abt other brands but following this mini advise, & god's grace, i didnot have any specific battery issue within the first 1-2 years of operation.
In addition once i asked a shop personnel the reason for this advise.. He said that "a battery consists of several mini cells which needs to be activated before these cells can store power and offer backup".
Usually these cells stay in dormant stage and every cell has its own time to get activated. On the safer side, no battery would need more than 15-20 hours (i guess) to activate itself fully or to the max.
Hope this helps.
