Can I save inbox msgs and contacts to memory card coz the phone memory is a whopping 7mb? (can you iomagine that?)
i'd like to buy this as a gift for my daughter, riyuzaki. she doesn't like carrying cellphones but prefers a musicplayer...and i can't think of a better choice. hope we are making the right choice.
ADVICE NEEDED:
i want to put my own music as the ringtone but first the phone tells me that the song is too large, so i cropped the song down to about 23 seconds and not it just says cannot be set as a ringtone.
so the question is how do i fix this little problem, or can it even be fixed?
i got this phone in like september and i've already had about three of them, the first one the speakers like broke for no reason, so T-mobile just replaced it for free, the second time, the screen cracked from a light fall and i had to get a new one, and it was full price, but i guess it was kinda my fault, but the screen cracks soo easily. it takes like 23598435943 years for it to turn on, and yeah the battery life freakin suckss.
but its a pretty cool phone if you have patience.
Hey ppl.....i own dis fone...n da battery life sucks big time! I think mebbe replacing it wt a higher capacity battery may help...........
Updated firmware to v.5.51 m lovin it!!!!!!!
Loudspeakers are clearer, eaac+ files sound better.......
Bt da music departmt- Using custom earphones/headsets obviously yields better results than the stock ones....
This thing's really loud... I prefer it over my SE W200i---until the nokia's battery runs flat that is....
Manual equalisers are the best option... Stereo widening is worthless anyway....
haven't checked out stereo bluetooth- wish i had a stereo bluetooth headset.....
Screen's good- and that seems to be a major battery drainer...... Nice keypad which leaves neither positive nor negative impressions.....
So-so cam..haven't used it much...
It's been a year and there are NO slide problems...Seems some loafers ve been spreadin dat around......
Pros-
Delivers as a music phone
Great screen
Manual equalisers work well
Dedicated music buttons (Pure tosh- but cool anyways)
Supplied PC Suite works well (esp.Music Manager)
Not bad at games
Stable s40 UI
EDGE, GPRS, IR, A2DP bluetooth
Supplied 3.5mm adapter
Quality loudspeaker with a hint of bass
Loaded at this price
Sweet Price Tag
Cons-
Dismal battery life
SLOW charging...the supplied charger SUCKS. PERIOD.
Difficult to reach Mem card slot
Difficult to open battery cover
Questionable build ( mine's screen got this wierd fungus like growth that just doesn't seem to go away no matter what i did-mebbe it's da humidity)
Does't charge when connected via USB
2.5mm headset port ( I don't get it- for a phone this hefty Y didn't they put a 3.5mm port???!!!)
So-so stock earphones
So there....i think weighing everything- this thing's good for the youth than the execs.... Nice VFM fone....i don't regret havin bought this..... Money well spent i guess.
i am also going to buy this phone but i want to know this phone will suppor symbian softwares
its battery drain fast.. specially when using the loud speaker for phone calls and music.. it will only last for 3 days. That's the only disadvantage I experience.. but as whole this phone ROCKS!!

ATTENTION ALL NOKIA 5300 OWNERS!
Please do update your phone to the latest firmware version v5.51 . Almost all features have improved. Especially the loudspeakers become clearer than ever. Now, the loudspeaker won't likely break now on the latest firmware.
Just check my blog for more information about the update.
Thanks

hi
i have a 6300 the ringer is asending in default mode i mean when i choose the highest volume for ringer at first it rings low and after 3 seconds it becomes high and i hate it.
5310 is the same.
is 5300 the same ?
i want to buy it please guide me.
thank you very much
It really depends on your region and carrier. You can't compare phones sold in your country to other country. Some phones are made in China some are in Thailand.
Nokia 5300 is a great phone, great build quality, great slide function and great music quality. If you want to experience high quality music, get Nokia 5300 plus get a good set of headphones. Then set the equalizer to pop and turn on the stereo widening.

this is no amazing phone..i like the sliding mechanism and the display..but for a music phone i must say it is way to soft!! it plays decent put not up to music phone quality
This phone is TERRIBLE! Don't buy it!
T-mobile got me to re-up for two years and pay $60 for this phone, which was a huge mistake.
In the beginning, I had problems with the sound quality--others complained that there was reverb, and I too experienced it on my end.
Then, within two months, the speaker intake (where you talk into it) went out so I could hear others but they couldn't hear me.
T-mobile switched the phone but I had to keep the original battery. They tried to get
me to pay for shipping but I complained and
got them to pay for that.
Now it's the battery is approximately six
months old and it's dropping from full to
1/4 in the eight hour period I am at work
and NOT using the phone at all. I just
called T-mobile and I passed the exchange
date with them by 30 days. Now I have to
deal with Nokia, which I will call next.
T-mobile does not have an "alternate" Nokia
swap out phone for this model, so you are
stuck with it--period.
I'm going to see if Verizon or Sprint will
buy me out of my Tmobile contract. I was a
happy 5 year Tmobile customer until I got the
shaft b/c of this phone.
i want it!
this is so cute..... i need it!
Hi guys, im goin 2 buy a new phone tomorrow.
I thought of taking nokia 5300 express music but i heard it has a slide prob!!!! is dat so plz mail me back asap...
main problem is battery life, otherwise this phone is great. just update the mobile soft than you can get a great and strong music. headphone and loudspeaker also. no tinne sound no fuse sound. its slide is great. if you ignore this bettry problem then you can buy it without any doubt.
