i updated my nokia 5700's firmware to 3.83.1..thanks for the thread in gsmarena.. just follow the simple steps
Plz follow this and get ur firmware updated. its really easy!!
To update to latest firmware.
Download - Nemesis Servise Suite or NSS ( Google for it)
Download - Nokia PC Suite (From Nokia Website)
Download - Nokia Software Updater (From Nokia Website)
1)Now connect your handset via usb, open the NSS software scan your phone.
2)Goto phone info tab, towards right side there is "Production Data Edit".
3)Below that there is "Read" option click it.
4)Now tick and turn "Product code enable"
5)Write down your original product code for backup.
6)Enter this code "0544847" this is EURO1
7)Click Write
8)Now you may close NSS.
Install PC suite and nokia software updater
Warning : Before you update make sure you have stable internet connection. Power backup. Updating will take some time depending upon your connection speed.
and yes please do not remove the cable in between and follow on screen instructions carefully.
9)Open NSU (Nokia Software Updater), it will scan for your phone.
10)If everything goes well it will tell you that 3.83.1 is available.
11)Click next and the flashing begins.
After succesful flasing you may revert back to your old product code by following steps 1-8 only this time use your backup product code in step 6.

I think you are asking for firmware update, right?? For that purpose you can download Nokia Software updater but maybe you won't be available to download an update. It depends of your phone, region and service provider. In my case I get stuck with the v3.27 because there aren't updates available yet but I can live with that, I'm not having so much reboots, only like 1 or 2 times per week. If you aren't able to find a newer version this way you can take your phone to a Nokia center.

I have found the same problem you mentioned about the adaptor. It stopped working a month after I purchased my 5700 so I take my adapter and headset to my provider and they replaced it because it was still under warranty. Now I'm not having problems anymore with this new one so maybe your adapter, like my previous one, was defective

Thanks for all your support. I feel this site like my home, if I have a doubt about my 5700 I only need to enter it and one or two days later is resolved. I love to help people that have problems too and compare phones so I feel like we are a great team.

Yeah There is a problem in the handfree adapter of this set , mines one stop working no button press was showing any function, it is due to the reason, there is a cell in the adapter which becomes weak n weak atlast ends it can be replaced by the mobile workshops , thats it

When this phone came out i did not see what all the fuss was about. But after reading the gsmarena review and buying the phone, I can say that i too am the proud owner of the nokia 5700. This phone has to be one of the best all rounders ever created by nokia. Its build quality is superb, it doesnt freeze or hang, its quite fast for a smartphone, has symbian platform, is compatible with many programs, has beautiful music quality (though not much bass) and the best headphones ever to come with a mobile phone.
It may not have all the features in the world, but if it did, it may have been strong enough to dethrone nokia n95, n82 and e90 as the best heavyweight champions.
It shall be very hard for me to upgrade to another phone. The n78 has caught my eye. It is said to have music capabilities of the n81 or n91 plus the same 369 mhz processor and a carl zeiss camera (due out in may).
If i do get it, i wil stil keep this phone. It is worth every penny.

I too own 5700 & yes its brilliant phone but comparing it with N95 is like comparing oranges with mango.
Few things u missed in N95 are dual processor, with larger screen(2.6), 3d hardware accelaration, GPS, Open Gl Support.
they both have their place, but we cheers for 5700.
