Some guys here are lunatic, they don't have this phone, and they lie here about this phone!
This is not prototype, but full functional phone, because nokia don't release prototypes for market, and this is not first touch screen from nokia products!
Nokia is worlds largest mobile company, and it's best technology you can get from it this days!
Videos on the 5800 express are superb viewing ,i use Orbit to download them an then Prism converter to make sure i get the Full video not just the music,an sometimes the video Quality is Magic but sometimes not the same quality,i hope we can get some software from Nokia making it easier to get HD videos to watch on the 5800 express
Has anyone had any issues with Garmin mobile XT? I installed it on the memory card and it works perfectly. Only problem is that when i restart my phone it freezes at the nokia screen and switches off again. When i remove the memory card it switches on perfectly. When i delete Garmin it turn on fine. It only happens when the memory card is inserted with Garmin installed.
I finally got my hands on this phone. I must say that i am very happy with it. No problems encountered so far. For the people who are in the market for this phone don't expect too much from it. It's a mid range phone which does the job. The sensitivity of the touch screen is very impressive. I was expecting it to be a bit bulky, but it's surprisingly small. Its the same length as my K800i, slightly thinner and slightly wider. The resistive touch is quite easy to get used to as is with the user interface. Sound is pretty decent but i would advise investing in a pair of ipod ear phones or senheizers for optimal sound quality. The camera is a real disappointment, the quality is really bad compared to my K800. I do have a few minor issues with the software which i think should be fixed with a firmware upgrade. These are:
1)The green tick which confirms text input on the top left corner should be moved to the bottom right or bottom center so that accepting text can be more streamlined.
2)There should be a permanent menu button on the main screen between the dialer and contacts button.
3)S60 V3 apps should by default use some sort of virtual keyboard instead of those virtual navigation keys with the ABCD buttons below them.
Issues with hardware:
1)The screen lock should be on the top of the phone to avoid accidental unlocking.
2)USB and charger ports should be located at the bottom or side.
Other than that the phone is awesome. Like i said, don't expect a top of the range N series phone, however it does come close.

well i have used a lot of phones for years, and I find nokia 5800 to be ok, had it for 3 months now, nothing to get thrilled or excited about but the phone works perfectly well. Its a good phone for its price and for its features.
hello..as i was telling some of my friends that this phone is still a prototype for the first touch OS symbian..it is unstable and will encounter problems in the future..no wonder why the price falls down so fast in a month..think about it..
i also recommend people NOT to buy this.. this phone has alot of problems internally. my microphone does not work, my touchscreen is rubbish.

Found nothing wrong with my 5800 express its a super audio an video mobile,an for it being Nokias first touchscreen mobile, its a very good debut from Nokia, ust the web browser is one thing Nokia got to improve, an like most people really wanted i wished it would have been made with metal body instead of Plastic, but Nokia will learn from the 5800 to make the N97 a very good mobile

I have to say this. This phone is really great for a phone that costa half the price of the iphone. Besides the price, it is good at what it is supposed to be good at, and that is a touchscreen phone that looks like a phone, feels as a phone and works very well as a phone. And I do mean it. I'm not a keen fanboy of this phone but I do like it over the iphone. It has all the features and duly covers all of them out without any doubt, although I have to admit there are a few glitches here and there that can be annoying but not much. It may not have all the eye-candy features of the iphone but like I said before it covers all the functions well enough. The iphone on the other hand is just a piece of visual accessory (I mean the phone OS is fluid, fun to touch and use, multitouch support, and that's it). The iphone is more like having a Mac laptop but doesn't even work like a performance laptop like windows laptops. To make it more simple, the iphone is like having a gold jewellery or a rollex platinum watch just for show-off and no other purposes. I've used both touch phones for a month and here's my opinion. Neither phones cannot replace the phones that we have at present but we can keep either one as our second handset for fun purpose. the 5800 can be used for most of the times one-handed whereas the iphone can be used for less than half the whole time one-handed. Worst of all the iphone may look like a phone but feels like a pimped-up ipod but the 5800 may not look as good as the iphone and made of cheap plastic but it does in the end look like a phone and feel like a phone(It looks cooler and funky than the more refined-looking iphone, so it's definitely a phone for youngsters and they definitely are gonna like it. Very clever strategy, Nokia). It does feel sturdy. Other functions seemed to me a tie-tie for both phones but the camera and video Both phones have their own pros and cons but in the end I would rather continue having the 5800 and not the iphone as it definitely has all the day to day purposes needed on a touchscreen phone where as the iphone has definitely the looks as a phone and phone OS. I dont dislike the iphone cause I like all the animations and the fluid interface and the multi-touch. But seriously! Who cares about multi-touch anyways! It's just a gimmick to buy out customers crazy about it. I dont care at all like the multitouch thing cause it's stupid. And it maybe cheap buying it from At&t but hell expensive for unlocked. But in the end and I really mean it, I, and I mean I, would have the cheap looking but inexpensive and powerhouse-functional 5800 Xpressmusic. Dont get all mad and sensitive about what I wrote down but think twice or more before buying youself one of these. I admire all the novelties brought into the iphone caused it has arisen a new future for cellphones and it does speak out loud TOUCHSCREEN. But in the end its far from perfect. Whereas the 5800 is not a new PHONE, its just the interface which is new but believe me its gonna catch up really fast in the touchscreen phone competition because of the massive popularity of S60 worldwide but Mac OS is new to the phone OS and its worldwide popularity is limited and so it will definitely take its time. So to remind all you 5800 users is that dont get all hasty about selling your 5800 back cause its just the beginning for nokia to come back to world domination. I have n82 and it does have some sluggishness and hanging up but that's just part of it being a phone, believe me, but its still the best phone right now and at present I dont feel that any 8 mpx right now can replace this phone, not even any high-end touch phone. So I'd be happy to continue along with this phone rather than the iphone and xperia and omnia and touch diamond or touch pro or touch hd. Trust me, try this phone out and if you dont like it then I have nothing else to say but "NOKIA 5800 XPRESSMUSIC ROCKS!"
