Naturally LED lamps themselves are not patented and they are extremely cheap when bought in huge quantities.
But my understanding is that the __idea__ of using a blinking and/or color changing (led) light source in mobile phones, in order to inform to the user about new messages or missed calls, is patented in most of the western world.

Lo and behold! My Nokia 6 stock camera app has provided photos that had rather strong yellowish cast, this has been so with flash photos as well as with indoor shots illuminated only by "warm white" lamps (so, without camera flash). In both cases also the preview showed similar yellowish cast. Only outdoors under sunlight and cloudy situations the photos have had good white point, without the strong yellowish cast, that is to say: Perfectly according to relative colorimetry, the way how all properly functioning cameras behave under all illumination situations (except the most bizarre ones).
Now, I turned the Capture Settings option into Manual mode and took several test photos using various manual control settings. I was still getting photos with more or less yellows casts and also the preview indicated that cast. Then I set the White Point setting to AWB and immediately the preview was good and flash photos as well as indoor shots under incandescent light (without flash) were good, no yellowish cast at all.
Then I set the Capture Settings option back into Auto, and it is still the same, all photos are good, without the yellowish cast. Now it seems that the only way for me to get the excessive yellowish cast, be it flash photos or in non-flash photos, is to set the AWB to something else but Auto.
Btw1: The actual color of the flash light did not change at all, the color of the physical light from the flash is still yellowish. What changed, somehow, apparently was the color management that the camera software does to the pixel data.
Btw2: I have never seen this strong yellow color cast issue in the Open Camera -app (a _very_ capable camera app, totally free, has no ads, requires no cockeyed permissions) by Mr. Mark Harman.

AnonD-516627, 26 Jan 2018I’m taking about g5s not the plus onethen Nokia 6. As I benchmarked on my device Nokia 6 scores 47.203k, and Moto g5 scores 40k. I don't have Moto G5, so I took its value from Internet.
Anonymous, 26 Jan 2018A tiny cheap LED expensive to license?? Do you always talk out of your rear end?? I don't know if the OP said about led patent is true or not. But do you have any idea about patents? An LED may be cheap but if it's covered by patents then you have to pay for it too, whether it's via front end or rear end

I was going to buy Nova 2i which has the same specs as Honor 7x because Honor 7x isn't available in my country, but after seeing how bad its GPU is, I decided not to buy. The Mali-T830 MP2 is weaker than Adreno 505. So it's NOT recommended for gaming. So either buy Moto G5 Plus or Nokia 6. Both are good phones for gaming.

What? It's stock andro... moreMy understanding is that the Indicator Led is a patented idea and expensive to license, it is missing in many/most make/models of android phones. Likely the patent does not cover China. I would have put up say up to 20 euros more for a "Nokia 6i" or such (where "i" designates the Indicator Led) but unfortunately there is not such option available.
The yellowish flash is somewhat irritating to me but I always edit each photo that I actually use so it is just an irritation. I can understand this being as a big minus for some of the people who use the photos as they are. It is nearly a design fault, has absolutely nothing to to do with health.

"complicated user interface"
What? It's stock andro... moreI have not experienced such horrible power consumption but surely when both the WiFi (or the HotSpot) and Bluetooth are active and only mp3 is listened from the ext SDcard using Bluetooth earphones (the display is off) then the full battery charge lasts only about 12 hours.
However, I would not recommend installing the AccuBattery, it takes control over a wide range of sensitive permissions that are not needed in any way for the very modest functionality that the app claims to provide:
-retrieve system internal state
-read the contents of your USB storage (WARNING)
-modify or delete the contents of your USB storage (WARNING)
-read the contents of your USB storage (WARNING)
-modify or delete the contents of your USB storage (WARNING)
-update component usage statistics
-receive data from Internet (WARNING)
-view network connections
-full network access (MAJOR WARNING)
-run at startup
-draw over other apps (MAJOR WARNING)
-control vibration
-prevent device from sleeping
Such app surely has need to store measured data but in bytes that database is very very tiny so it needs not to be stored to the USB or extSD, the internal storage can easily provide such a tiny amount of storage space and hence no USB permissions are really needed. The Full Internet Access -permission has nothing to do with the very modest functionality of this app.

Lie. It has plenty of battery juice
"weak sickly yellow camera flash"
Yellow flash light is better for the health. Blue light is bad for health. Search about blue light effects in google.

Another lies. It's fine. In fact it's superior even on low light condition
"Last night I slept at 2.am with the battery at 34% six hours later the phone was OFF. How!!"
Not possible. yesterday I slept at 12 with battery at 17%, and when I woke up it's at 13%. And I checked and found it's also because of wifi is always on. so I turned it off and didn't touch the phone for 6 to 7 hours, and found it only reduced by 2%. I suggest you to install accubattery and keep your eye on the battery.

kushi, 24 Jan 2018is thre any heating problem?????No Heating problem at all. Played Asphalt 8 for an hour with max settings but no heating problem, but you may slightly feel some heat if the back case is applied.
Nokia 6 is quite good, but not much happy with the battery. As I have tested. You can play asphalt 8 for 4 to 5 hours straightly with max settings. I expected it to last at least 8 hours. So I highly suggest to buy a power bank as well if you are a heavy user, otherwise battery is just fine.
Nokia 6 or Moto G5s?
Anyone received update after Oreo beta version.
