Wanted a Nokia flip phone for a long time, loive Nokias, always wanted a flip phone, so was delighted when this came out as it looks really nicely designed as well as being a good functioning phone.
I think there are however, severe problems with the 6131 at the moment. I am currently on my third 6131, about to get the 4th one - because of numerous problems.
First phone, the camera was faulty, as someone else here specified - it came up with "operation failed" and went into standby. Same with the video. So i exchanged that phone for a new one.
Sent a text message on it, which got stuck in the outbox - couldn't delete it, couldn't "stop sending" it. And the main opening screen had a message on it that said "sending failed for #1# message" with the number #1# going up every second to 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. It goes up forever. I could do nothing with the phone, I couldnt access menus, call anyone, or anything. Turning it off and then on again after about half a second it would start up again. So I took this back - this was less than a day after I had it replaced.
So am now on the third phone, and this one, as someone has stated before on here, has bad sound quality on calls, they sound very distorted and crackly. So i am on my way to get the 4th one tomorrow.
I have a funny feeling half these early models will be recalled. Which is a shame because the phone itself is great - when it works.
This time I am going to stand in the T Mobile shop and try everything out before I leave the shop and if something doesn't work i'll be exchanging it again and again until I get a fully working model.
Anyone else had similar problems???

I'm interested in getting this phone but I want to use it mainly as an MP3 player. Has anyone used it for this? Can you upload directories with music to a miniSD card and have the player playback on those directories (albums, artists etc.)?
Also, does anyone know what the real battery life is? I'd greatly appreciate your feedback.
Thanks.

6126 is the north american version of 6131... I believe the only difference between them, is the lack of PTT (Push To Talk) in 6126.
To set things right: 6126 is NOT 3mm thinner than the 6131! They are the same size... The average thickness of them both is 17mm and the maximum is 20mm...

Ok so nokia is coming out with the 6131 and the 6126 (which is nowhere to be found on this site). Can anyone tell me what is the difference between these two phones except for the 3mm size difference.

I finally bought it, and during two days I've been playing with it a little bit. My first impressions are really positive.
Internal Screen: Only a word... Superb!
External Screen: Really good
Keys: Big and well located
Speaker: Sounds really high compared to my old 6230, and the quality is good, but I think there are better phones in this area
Menus: The new S40 edition is brilliant. All the functions are easy to find. It is fast, there isn't any delay.
Camera: Good, but could be much better.
Price: 259 €
The negative points are:
- The incoming SMS do not indicate the date in which they are received... ¿?
- It is not possible to make a photo if you have the headset connected and the phone opened (the connector hides the lens)

It was release a few days ago in bangkok for the price around 260 USD. I was gonna buy it but after I saw the real one , I was reluctant if this beauty should replace my 6270. The finish of this phone doesn't seem to be great. The shiney silver part around the keypad looks like it's gonna be gone ina few months. The keypad seems to be cheap plastic.
However, I am still interested because it has full functions I want and It is much smaller than 6270.
So, still waiting to hear feedbacks from users.
Anyone can comment on camera (photo, video) and sound?

This phone is the best phone i EVER had or seen. its just great, it has all the features as other phone, look so nice. i put 1gb memory card in side it for £32 and its so small in size. PC suit works 100% fine if you go to nokia website and download 6131 Pc suit not random ones. you can put themes on. picutres& screensaver for both screens. This phone its just SICK. after 8800 this is the ebst looking phone

Nokia has horrible software - bluetooth and infrared work with my laptop and I can use them with Windows Explorer, but the stupid Nokia PC Suite just won't work! And I'm not the only one - so many people have the same problem with the same messages - and nokia does NOTHING to resolve the issues. Talk about the support...

How are there such differing views on the phone
some say its fantastic, one of the best on the market, and then there are others saying it looks and feels cheap and is lacking in some main features in which it should..
im mighty confused as to if i should buy this phone or not...

Absolutely one of the best MOBILE TELEPHONES on market so far! Size ok, weight ok, functions ok. Was it in the late -80's when you needed 2 hands to carry
a MOBILE PHONE? Buttons, displays and that soft finish superb. Nokia is a Finnish company and believe me - I as a Finn know what I'm talking about. With 6131 Nokia has really stuck gold!

i had a look at a working version today in T-Mobile, i have to admit, i wasnt that impressed! the feel of the phone is rather cheap, that 'soft paint' finish is awful. the faux metal surround of the keypad shoes every fingerprint and feels really plasticy. push button open is good, and feels quite sturdy and camera quality is ok, but the 16m screen is doesn't seem nearly as good as my N80. hmm...
