Hello Readers - Will you all please accept my apologies for the constant errors made when typing messages here. It seems my brain works faster than my fingers - and that's not a good sign. I'll have to practise my typing...
Hey Kat - How did you get on with the reset?
Hey Hurley - In the UK you get a 32mb card in the package - but what good is that though, huh?
Hey Drans, sorry for the long message earlier.
Sorry for writing too many messages in one slot, but GSMArena is blocking me with flood warnings, too many messages they say! bah!
Hi Dranz - Well, let's see.
I had a sony K750i for 8 months, then the W800i for 2 weeks and then the W810i for 2 months. Loves every single minute I had them. However, I'm a nokia kind of guy - the menus are faster, clearer, easier to use, simpler, better.
The Sonys are top of the range phones, no doubt about it. For example, the W810i you mentioned....Has an outstanding sound output, fantastic radio, even better camera with the autofocus and flash. Memory is fast too, and the package comes complete with a 512mb card to get you started. BUT the W810i is very plasticky, feels very...uhm....poor in built quality, if you know what i mean. Now, the 6233 - this is something else with the built quality, but has its downsides when put against the W810i. The cam is not as precise, lacking autofocus and flash. There's no memory included in the package (if you can call a 32mb card a memory extension freebie from Nokia anything but annoyingly useless garbage). moreover, the nokia offers such a great menu user friendly facility that blew me away. The phone captivated me in every way. There is no perfect phone in the market, we all know that; however we have learnt that we can cope with little nags in every handset. I honestly say i loved my W810i, in black, it looked the business. But the creaks and little noises coming from the battery cover made me think this was made from recycled material found in a dumpster - THIS IS definitely not the case, but do you get my meaning? I love the 6233 just the same, but because of the menu, built, design, and so on....I prefer it to the sony one. But they are certainly 2 phones worth having a good look at before making a decision. Perhaps you have a friend or someone who has a W810i you could have for a few minutes, even an hour, to play with before making your choice? It's not like I'm tempting you into the Nokia side, but have a good look before you get either. As a comparison gauge, my brother now possesses the W810i I had. I basicaly sold his old phone, gave him my w810i and got a 6233 with the money from his sell. HE is in love with the Sony,a dn wouldn't trade it for the nokia even if i gave him an extra 50quid on top to close the deal...So there you go. Specs wise, they are very similar, however the W810i's menu is slightly slower than nokia's. The cam on W810i is definitely better, even though they are both sporting a 2mp cam. I find that i prefer a bigger screen too. The 6233 has a slightly bigger screen, and better clarity. Well, as you can see, there are many variables to consider, but whatever choice you make, be certan it will be a good one, they are both excellent phones!!! hope this helped you in any way. Regards, Roger
here in the Philippines....there is no memory card included in the package. is it really like that in other countries also?
Hey Surferguy - What's the capacity of your mem card? Here in the UK there's a 1gb transflash going for under 30 british pounds, incl p&p - check out http://mobymemory.com/proddeta...SDSDQ%2D1024
That's including the adaptor too. Not bad. Maybe I could even post one out to you? cheerio! rog
Hi Shamsul - I think that the direct download of firmware is normally set by your current service provider...At least that's what I've always believed. Nokia has no way of doing it themselves....However, even if your service provider does it - they will provide you with an info text to advise of future occurrings on your phone system. Weird, no?
Also - Hey SAMA - The camera sound is set ata different level to the phone's itself. You'd have to have the camera shutter sound set at on or off constantly to ge the desired sound or not - know what i mean? If you have the shutter sound ON - Then setting the phone on silent won't set the silence the shutter - and obviously when the shutter is silent, whatever you do, you wont get a shutter sound....Did that help? Sound confusing to me too! sorry - just trying to help.... Ah, Surferguy had it in a nutshell - The sound will go or not go regardless of your menu settings, so as long you had the shutter set to a desired position.
Also - PUF - unfortunately Nokia always does that - this time, the charger is similar in shape, but much much smaller in size - so no, you need the specific charger to charge your Nokia 6233. Anyway guys - Peace! cheerio. roger
does that actually work?i tried that on my old 7370, it did not work..this is d bug of the latest S40 i guess...tnx
No Wallet! Not much security features in this phone compared to 6230... But everything else is just nice, good sound, display and keypads.
And anyone know whether can use any other Nokia charger to charge the phone?
To jack, if u want to get rid of the ascending ring/msg tone, u need to lower the ring tone level down a notch to level 4... hope this helps.
anyone, is the message alert tone / ringing tone always on d ascending mode? (like the alarm clock) i had 7370 b4 and that was very annoying, the ringtone/msg tone is low in d begining & gets louder..or d volume is loud already..tnx..and can u see the one calling because it's 3g?tnx
SAMA.. If you want to have the photo capture sound off turn the go to the menu>camera>options>settings>camera sound off that should fix the problem regardless of being on silent or general profiles :)
Hello every body,
Actually i want 2 buy this mobile but when i try it in market i found some thing bad in mobile, when u put the mobile in Silent and wanna 2 take a photo there is a camer sound appear !!
and this happen in all new nokia's mobiles i don't know why and there is no solution for that i mean the camera sound will appear in every time u wanna 2 take a pic !!
Finally i found the Review in GSM site.. happy...
But one thing i found in ther review is.. that they have mentioned as below
"A great feature is that you can now directly download updates of the phone firmware when newer versions become available"
How to directly download update of phones firmware... does any one know...???
Ok since im bored at work i will post a little review about this wonderful phone.
First off i will say this is probably the best handset i have ever had. The feel look of the phone is tops. Menu's are lightening fast, great camera, but no flash. Night made can justify for it though. 2mp photo's are of the highest quality. Navipad and buttons have excellent feel. Uploads from PC to phone or vise versa are quick and easy to use (i use bluetooth). The sound output is a big feature that grabbed my attention strait away! OMG! The sounds is sooooooo clear. Storage wise the phone's internal memory isn't that crash hot, but memory card makes up for it with a whopping 64mb.
All in all i think that this is one of the best handsets on the market and from nokia. I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a fast sturdy phone for everyday to day use and wants a phone full of features. So go but it!!!
Cheers Aaron aka surferguy..hehe :)
ok for some ppl that might be wondering "why doesn't my cell info display work"? i had this problem, in order to correct it you need to set the phones network settings to GSM and not DUAL mode. You can do this by going MENU>SETTINGS>PHONE>NETWORK MODE>GSM......
Hey Unnamed person down there - You asked about the speed of menu facility - You can compare it to 6230 - However, I find that 6233 is faster, smoother and better than the 6230. The 6230i was never very good in that sense, was it? Take care, rog
Hey Kat - It would be an idea to reset your phone - obviously save your address book on your sim card first. The move on to settings > reset to factory mode. I think the pass code is 12345. Give it a try. This will bring your phone back to factory status, as it was when boxed up. Maybe it is just a little glich and needs a little reset. If not successful, then call your customer services and get it sent to Nokia for a hard reset (they will reinstall the firmaware from scratch)..Hope this helps, roger
