I read that exact article too but guess what, I still went ahead and conditioned my battery. I still believe in tradition because technology sometimes fail. Agree ?
I have no problems with battery life. In fact I made tons of calls yesterday and still had 3/4 battery life when I came home.
I will admit, my ringtones were on the low side when I first got my phone but I can almost swear that they are louder now since I upgraded my firmware.
My vibration has been strong enough from day one.
To be honest, I have no major complaints about this phone.
I'm like you, I like hacking and like to experiment with bluetooth. What's the name of the bluetooth app that you have ?
To L FORTI:
The 6300 being a S40 phone doesn't come with built in document viewers. S60 phones normally have these, or in other words smart phones. I'm yet to see a S40 phone with built in document viewers.
You can install 3rd party document viewers. I had a J2ME (Java) PDF viewer once but unfortunately it's not free and mine expired before I could even use it.
I don't have a need for these viewers on my phone at the moment so I haven't tried to get anymore.
You have 2 ways of downloading games into the 6300.
1. Using WAP...in other words your phone's web browser
2. Using a data cable.
If you decide to use your phone's browser try wap.google.com and search for 240x320 games. The 6300 also supports 3D games too and most of them are cool...like Super Taxi Driver which looks the same as it did on the Sega Dreamcast.
If you decide to use your PC to download games then you will need a miniUSB cable for data transfer which is a standard for most USB devices. Most digital cameras, Memory Card reader and much more devices use this cable. Nokia also sells this cable as the 'DKE-2' cable.
You can easily get free games from your PC's internet and upload them into your phone using the cable. Use Yahoo, Google or Alta Vista to search for games. Remember, in order for the games to fill up your screen they need to have a resolution of 240x320.
There are millions of 128x128, 128x160 and 176x220 games out there and if you install games with these resolutions then only a portion of your screen will be used to display the games.
When you connect the cable to your phone and PC, a message will appear on the phone screen asking which mode you want to use the phone in. Select 'Data Storage Mode'. The phone will appear as another drive in your PC, a removable drive, like a jump drive. In fact, you can use the phone as a jump drive too.
Use file management techniques like Copy & Paste to transfer the games to your phone's memory card.
In Data Storage Mode you ONLY have access to the memory card.
i am curious about your advice on conditioning the battery for the first time, since i read about Lithium Ion batteries everywhere on the internet and most of them say the same thing:
"Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days."
"Unlike nickel and lead-based batteries, a new lithium-ion pack does not need cycling through charging and discharging. Priming will make little difference because the maximum capacity of lithium-ion is available right from the beginning. Neither does a full discharge improve the capacity of a faded pack. However, a full discharge/charge will reset the digital circuit of a 'smart' battery to improve the state-of-charge estimation."
"It is important to note that trickle charging is not acceptable for lithium batteries. The Li-ion chemistry cannot accept an overcharge without causing damage to the cell, possibly plating out lithium metal and becoming hazardous."
what are your reactions on these?
Best Design & Shape, slim.Battery is not good,Becouse its 16M ,large Display.Ringing&vibration isn't stronger than other Nokia models. But Has a new better Media Player.
This is a brilliant s40 phone. I have no complains about this phone so far and i'm very happy with it. You can download pdf and office software in this phone. Also i've managed to install a bluetooth hacking software in mine. It works perfectly. As a mobile application developer i bought this phone to try out my newly developed software. And this phone does bare all my abuse and has never given me any trouble at all. Actually this is my upgrade from a 6233. Before posting this i read some posts, actually they were arguements. Any how i can put up my hand and say that this phone is a million times better than the 6233. I don't care much about the appearance of a phone. I buy phones for my experiments. And the firmware of the 6233 is pretty useless. I can hack in to the system in less than 5 minutes and make any changes i want to. But the firmware of this 6300 is very good. Still couldn't find a way to hack in to the system. This is a properly good phone.
Can somebody tell me, does the 6300 provides the document viewer, PDF, Word, Excell or other..
Would be very thankfull cause Im very confused.
someone asked about the ringtones. well, they r not very loud. i often miss my calls when i m outdoor. this is another problem with it. even the vibrator is not that strong.
i have been using this fone for about a year. i love this cell but the problem in this set is its battery time and very slow camera.
Can we download games for this model? If we can, how can we download games into the memory card?

can i ask here in the philippines there are only scarce cellphones which are made in Hungary well my Nokia 3200 was made in hungary and lasted for 2 yrs. eventhough it was dropped 50x... i guarantee that cellphones which re made in hungary are durable ... now back to my question would it be possible that Nokia 6300 can be made in Hungary here in the Philippines?
i love this phone ists the best ever!real handy and the features are great wonderful phone
If the manufacturers put everything that people cry about in cellphones then hardly anybody in the world would be able to afford them OR willing to pay immensely high a price for a phone.
The 6300 materials aren't cheap. The stainless steel is high quality and the black areas are piano accent. Manufacturers give and take to keep products in a certain price category.
Not to mention some people complained about the high price tag of the 6300 from day one...then suppose it had everything you suggested ?
