How incredible that no one mentioned about the great idea of placing the video call camera next to the speaker! Genius nokia.

i've been using this phone for about a few days now... the phone is very very nice... very slim and slick looking... battery life is slightly better than the 6300. i would definitely recommend this phone is you're looking for a slim 3G phone. the 2 megapixel camera with flash takes pretty decent pictures.

Almost perfect phone for me. If they just wouldn't put in the camera. For me it spoils the whole look of the phone. Why to put in the things that doesn't do the job...

Erm... sure. So I pay out £25 per month for a sim card on Three and go out and spend a further £350 on this phone because they don't stock it. What a great idea. You must be some kind of a financial genius.

Or I'll go back to my original argument - I hope this phone is released on one of the "good" networks that offer seamless internet, etc at excellent prices (i.e. Three).

That's the whole idea of a contract - you pay out circa £30p/m for a phone and get calls for "free". The other way of looking at it, is that you get the phone for "free" and pay out circa £30p/m on calls. If you are buying the phone sim-free, you may as well just get Pay-as-you-go or simply wire your money to me - clearly if you enjoy throwing it away, you won't mind giving it away either.

Or have you completely missed the point of a contract phone?

Tw4t.

I don't know why people are moaning about the handset not going on their network. They can easily purcahse it sim free from Nokia or buy a locked one and get it unlocked!

Unreal!

This phone will be released at the very end of September in the UK.

This has been confirmed to me both by Phones 4 U and Vodafone.

I do not know which operators will be carrying this phone, but O2 and Vodafone almost certainly will; a bit of a kick in the balls knowing how long I have waited for this thing, they are easily two of the worst operators out there, a complete f*cking rip off! Hopefully it will be released on Three or T-Mobile.

If you want to know when this phone will be released in your country, then simply phone up a couple of your retailers. They will know. Mr Joe on the internet will not.

Hope this helps.

216hr standby and 3h30mins is 3G mode. In GSM mode, the phone is 300 hrs standby and 5hr30mins. This will clear many people's doubt!

Attention:
Don't buy from e-buy-global.com !
It's strange that they got mobile phones 70% cheaper, e.g. 8600 Luna - $150. It's that odd, that it doesn't even cover production expenses...
So, my advice: don't even write to them. They aren't really from Italy! Their host is somewhere in Israel! It might aswell be some kid playing around behind his PC, and getting his money off our backs.
When I asked for their company's registration number, business rate, or something like that, the director replied to me they haven't got it for anybody. 'Cause that's something that has to be made public, so anyone may verify it.
Thanks! Bye! P.S.: Please tell others, too!

In the UK: 1st week of October but possibly much later if Nokia wants to focus on marketing the Slide version first. I have a feeling they will because the 6500 Classic isn't even slated for release/in any "coming soon" sections of any mobile phone supplier, while the 6500 Slide IS in most "coming soon" sections...

Hell knows why they are taking so long to release this thing; they could have done it this month.

Looks like it will be O2 and Vodafone who will be stocking the phone, which is painful because O2 are horrendously sh!t and Vodafone are designed for financially retarded morons who enjoy being ripped off...

If it goes onto Three or T-Mobile (free internet), then I will be one happy bunny; they offer the best value contracts and reception is a thing of the 1990s, not the Noughties so there is not much between operators apart from price and selection of phones...

But already waiting this long for this goddamn phone, probably the next c*nting revelation is that I am forced to go with one of the two worst operators out there...

Further dodgy perplexities with phoneboxdirect - they are charging £40 per month for a ridiculously pathetic 450 xnet mins & 200 txts.

I know Orange like to rip their customers off, but I think even they would draw the line charging that much for this phone.

Even the N95 (which lest we forget is Nokia's current top-of-the-range, flagship phone) cost less than this, FREE on contract and with more minutes when it first came out.

The 6500 is nice, but it sure as hell ain't Nokia's top-of-the-range. So why is the contract so much?

Hmmm..... Phoneboxdirect, are you now beginning to tread in your own bullsh!t? Thought so...

Hi All! As the phone is not even in mass production in Europe yet, phoneboxdirect is just a money pull bulls..t. Best case, is that they take the order and gonna ship the device in a couple of months. Worst case, I let you think on it.

As being in the industry for some years I have the luck to have some of these newcommers from different manufacturers beforhand. This beauty seems to be a good quality mid range unit. Quality cover, good quality music (with my BH-501). Keyboard is easy to handle. Good push points with a good feel. Even from the prototype.

How it's gonna work? Never know with the prototypes. Also had it for too short of a time to know how the battery works. Features are as promised. Data connection is stable. Seems to be a good second phone for me. Miss the full keyboard as I am 24/7 online and read e-mails on phones as well. But for the weekend, or travel, I would take it.

I found that phonboxdirect.com was selling the 6500 last week.

BUT

The website looks a bit amatuer, despite their being "good" contact information.

Even more importantly - this phone is not even available direct on Orange yet. So how is it that phoneboxdirect have got hold of it, even before Orange?

And why are they the ONLY retailer selling the phone?

Hmmm.. Does anyone else smell some bullsh!t about this website?
