> In reply to atik @ 2009-10-01 18:20 from I5a@I have puted a peace of paper in one side of battery so it gives more pressure on connection. Turning off is, I believe, problem of connection between battery and phone.

I've had this phone for almost 2 years, and it's been good to me. The battery life is a little short, I have to admit. It shuts off on its own about once a month while I'm sending a text. It gets warm if I'm talking more than a half hour or when I'm using it while it's charging. However, these have all been minor issues to me. This phone has been dropped (open and closed) and kicked but still keeps on going. The call quality is great too.

Random shut-offs. Turns itself off while talking to someone. A total piece of crap. Only save it if you want to throw it at a Nokia engineer.

I have Nokia 6555 for 1 1/2 year. For past 6 months phone is randomly shutting down. I noticed worsen this problem with combination blue-tooth, power charger and use of my phone. Phone is in good shape and relatively new. Because is out of warranty Nokia or AT&T won't take care of this problem for free. I believed this is manufacturer problem. Do you have any suggestions beside using paper in battery compartment? Thanks

I have this phone. I dont really like it. The battery heats up. The phone is constantly turning itself off. When it doesnt turn it self of, it freezes. Everyone who calls me says that it says that the telephone is turned off, while it just freezes, not to mention the situations when it turns itself off. It is really not worth its price. I dont advise you to buy this phone.

This phone would be perfect for me if it didn't shut off at random. AT&T replaced my phone, but I am still having this problem. My battery does seem loose, and I'm going to try another poster's suggestion and use a piece of paper to shim the battery against the terminals. Hopefully, this fixes the problem once and for all.

Nice phone, but the battery is a huge disappointment. Typical Nokia quality, reliability, and over all a likeable phone. Too bad the battery is so limited in capacity, it really spoils a good phone.

A VERY BAD PHONE! We have 2 and both have the same problem of cutting off. Have exchanged both with at&t. They will not exchange another as they don't care and neither does Nokia. I'll not buy another Nokia! I'm going to buy off the internet and let my contract with at&t expire next year. The bottom line is none of these companies care about you! Its the bottom line... Don't believe all these fancy commercials because that's all they are is commercials!

Exchanged phone at least 6 times with provider under warremty program within the very first year, usually for repeat problems.
After warrenty period over, took the time to write to Nokia and they basically didn't care and sent mr packing.
Got the Office of President's email/contact info - let's see what happens.
Who has the time to keep writing, looking for someone to care and listen?

I have loved my phone for the last two years - love the pics especially! battery life, yes, definitely need more - it's time to move on...love Nokia - will stick with Nokia for sure.. design is great, dropped it more than once, watch video clips, send emails, text constantly, acess internet, google, used it to its max.... ready for more power, faster downloads. The car charger doesn't work anymore, need to charge daily. Barely makes it through the day -

> In reply to Renso @ 2009-05-19 06:21 from 4jJKMy 6555 was powering off soon after I bought it about 12 months ago. I discovered that if I jammed a piece of folded paper between the battery and the compartment the phone does not shut off. The designers of the battery compartment messed up. The molds that were used to create the compartment were not designed correctly and now many of us are stuck with a battery compartment that is too big for the battery. Try the folded paper idea to push the battery into the phones battery copper leads. This worked for my phone. Good luck.

There might be a solution about the shutting off problem of the Nokia 6555 - it might be the battery compartment.
If you will open the battery cover, check if you can move the battery up and down...if yes then that might be the cause of the problem. All you need to is to is to have it tighten by putting a paper folded to two or three to fit and place the battery tightly.
I have done that and now the shutting off problem stops...though the battery life really sucks. Mine only gives me about two days.
I really wonder about that when it uses a BL-5C type that has a 1020 mAH capacity. It should be even better that the BL-4U battery which has 1000 mAH.
