Can anyone help me out please. I went to Nokia store yesterday trying to buy the BP-6X battery for my 8800 but the Nokia sales manager discouraged me. She said it is not compatible with the 8800 since the BP-6X is for sirroco. They had a case where in someone bought the BP-6X batt and used it for 8800 but it did'nt work. Could'nt charge the batt after it was drained. The BP-6X battery they are selling is made in china (is there any difference where the battery is made?)Shyould I go on and risk buying it anyway? Please advise. Thanks

Nice phone, classics.

You can increase battery working time, by mounting sciroco model battery.

I had been looking at this phone for a few years now, before it was even introduced to the US. I always dreamed of owning it. Finally, my phone died a month ago and it was time for a new one. I checked this one out and read about the horrible battery life problem. Yet I was optimistic and went ahead and got a barely used one off of ebay. Well, it's true. The battery life SUCKS. And for me that's a huge problem because battery life is extremely important. And the battery meter on the side of the main screen would go from full to one bar without anything in between. My batteries only lasted about 30 minutes talking, and half a day on stand by. I realize that this might be because it is a used phone, but I doubt it. So I went ahead and bought two new batteries on ebay. One was a "longer life" aftermarket battery. It was just as bad. Then yesterday my battery from Hong Kong arrived. I heard that the BP-6X battery for the Luna worked so I tried it out. It is a fairly large improvement, but the battery life still is nowhere near what I hoped it would be. the problem with the battery meter on the side also seems to be fixed with the BP-6X.
All in all, I would highly caution anyone looking to buy this phone. It's definitely not meant to be a primary phone. Unless you plan on charging it throughout the day, this is not the phone for you. It's beautiful, but barely functional.

Yeah the battery life is awful on this and the camera isn't great either. But I still prefer it to my old Motorola V3.

I have had three 8801's within the past year. All were covered under the two year warranty but all still had the same problem, including the one I currently own. I can hear my callers but they can't hear me. I need to press many buttons to trigger the mic to work again. Such a pain, I've given up on this 8801 Sirroco and just bought the 8600 Luna. I pray that the 8600 won't share those problems similar to the 8801. They are both good looking phones and because I am a loyal Nokia owner, no matter what happens, I will always buy another Nokia.

Hi M.J
The problem you're having is same as mine, There's something wrong withe the speaker.
You must have it fixed by Nokia. I had to do
It myself and now it's working properly.

i got a nokia 8800 last year and it's not that user friendly plus the navigation is only limited. mp3's are only limited for a number of 4 or 5, then if you will load songs at the same time, there won't be enough memory space for the pictures and videos. unlike the other nokia models, you have to carefully choose the tone pattern or else you will just waste your time uploading it. plus, i'm having a hard time hearing from it and when i turn on the loudspeaker it's just the same as a standard volume. the battery is such crap that you have to plug-it in if you want to talk for long. for pairing bluetooth devices it drains the battery right away. it is really fancy and classy style, but i will never buy this kind of phone again. it's just sleek and easy to put inside the pocket but aside from that functionality is really low. i've dropped it for how many times the housing now got dented, i looked for the new housing and it costs me half of its price.
