I just checked if there is a new firmware (phone software) for E51 as stated below by Anonymous but unfortunately the latest version is still 200.34.36 for E51.
I suggest that you bring your unit to the store where you bought it or to nokia care center nearest you if you have a problem on bluetooth.

Hi, anybody faces the Bluetooth cannot be turn on issue?
I just upgraded my E51 software to its latest version, version 201.34.38, dated 01-06-08, but to my horror, I couldn't turn on my bluetooth.
I did a couple of soft and hard reset, but the problem is not solved, anybody faces the same issue?

To Asad & Brad;
E51 supports smileys, my friends always send me txt messages with smileys and it's animated. You can send sms to others also with emoticon (animated smileys), just download the "Animated SMS Wizrd" at
www.mobile9.com
Hence, you can send an animated message to others provided that they have the same apps installed.

Good set but one drawback especially for msg lovers that it neither has nor support smileys (cartoons) in messaging. Nokia should b aware of it.

hello WINURA and the rest of u E51s am using the Nokia N70 ME for the last 10 months, ive coveted the E51 for the last 3 months and am thinking of buying it. The N70 affords me good sound on playback and 3G. as a modem on my desktop, it afords me only 460 kb. I need to know the modem speed for E51 and is the camera and sound that bad realy, it would be a shame, am at samescomusau@yahoo.ca your opinion will be highly appreciated. thanx in advance. sam

The specifications are really good I am definately going to buy this phone. It is excellent in terms of features, it can compete against the other new models cellphones.

WINURA and my other friends,
I know some of you have wondered about using video conferencing without 3G.
So far I have come across one service which uses Wi-Fi or GPRS (I think I see WINURA smiling about the GPRS part).
This service allows Video Conferencing (using back camera for E51 or front camera for phones which have one), VOIP calls, and regular IM. It's the full package!!!
Check it out everybody and sign up with the service so we can all link up free
PC version of the site: http://www.tivi.com/ or http://www.tiviphone.com

there seems to be battery problem. they say talk time is 4hrs +. but we rarely get even 2hrs although the operating frequency is the best available. no applications are runing..
once it drains the 1st point.. that it is understood to be almost 40% remaining.. rest it is a decent piece worth the price.. audio, video quality not at all up to mark.. afterall its busz mobile so not expected..

> In reply to Original_Jamaican @ 2008-08-26 17:02 from kaKiMostly i use skype to call my friends abroad. but since the day i installed Nokia Chat, i'm unable to log in to skype with the current 'internet service package', which i installed by deleting the previous version because the previous version did not support nokia chat.
If you're searching me try just 'Winura' or 'Winura Kekiriwaragoda'.

WINURA, when I sign into FRING there's somebody on my contact list with the name BLACKBERRY.
When I highlight the person the FRING icon is highlighted so that means the person is a user of FRING as well. I'm wondering if it's you.
You said you are bored but if you log into FRING we can call each other...so that will add to the couple of calls you make when you find a hotspot.
Let me clarify something, when you say you make calls using a hotspot, which VOIP program do you use to make the calls ?

> In reply to Winura @ 2008-08-26 05:31 from w9L7It seems you have a data plan with your provider, do you ?
I have complete Wi-Fi access at work and I will pick up usuable signals at home most days if not everyday so I normally use WLAN and nothing more.
There's always Fring since that supports multiple connection pipelines but I'm yet to see you online anywhere, whether Fring, Nokia Chat, my PC's MSN or my PC's Yahoo.
Where are you located and what's your timezone ?
Maybe when I'm online you are fast asleep and vice versa.
