i had this phone recently. it is amazing phone. almost all features comes in it at reasonable rates. it also has a wi-fi.
sleek design.i am a true fan of it.
The Nokia E51 is a sleek device coupling an updated, intuitive interface with a nearly exhaustive feature list at its price point.
Connectivity is great with Quad-band GSM and Dual-band UMTS (3G), Wi-fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, USB 2.0 (a mini-USB port has replaced the Pop-port) along with the Mass Storage profile, and a hot-swappable microSD slot which can accessed by opening the battery cover. Being an E-series phone, it surprisingly lacks the "IP Passthrough" option allowing your phone to connect to your own network. This is the case even with originally unlocked E51s.
The design is understated with a slim and tall look and a steel body which looks desirable in black instills confidence. It certainly does not look cheap. The button layout takes little time getting use to and in addition the two softkeys and four-way button pad with center button there are four hotkeys which perform different customizable actions depending on the duration of the press given here in the order of key, short press action, long press action: Home - home screen, switch tasks; Phonebook - launch phonebook, create new contact; Calender - view calender, create new event; Messages - enter messaging menu, create new message. Other keys include the Push-to-Talk key on the left side which by default starts a voice recording, volume and voice dialing keys on the right side, and the power button on the top. Note that these other rubberized keys are difficult to press but that rules any accidental presses. A 2.5mm headset jack is located at the bottom of the phone – this along with the miniUSB port is departure from the proprietary Nokia Pop-port. The 2" screen with high resolution of 320x240 16 million colours is more than enough for general phone scope with the occasional video clip.
The E51 utilizes the Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 operating system with its main advantage being the ability to install your own applications. The 369 MHz processor with 50 MB of usable RAM allow one to navigate the straightforward menus and perform multiple tasks comfortably.
Business users will appreciate Exchange push mail support but you must install the Nokia-supplied freeware Mail for Exchange program (not included in the package). You can open common Microsoft documents with Quickoffice but you cannot edit them. Adobe Acrobat reader fulfills your PDF viewing needs.
Being a true business smartphone features such as a standby email inbox, internet telephony, printer and wireless keyboard support, remotely managing device settings, data, and software, along with the above mentioned document file and push mail support are a given.
The multimedia front is current and sufficient but the phone does not excel in this area. You can play audio and video files, capture images with the two megapixel camera and record video. The pictures taken with the camera have substantial noise if they are not taken in ideal conditions and the phone will emit a warning sound notifying everyone in close proximity that you are taking a picture or recording a video.
The package contents are standard and leave much to be desired: a charger with a three pin (earth is plastic) plug, a basic headset, a Nokia PC Suite installation CD, a mini-USB to USB cable, a 512MB microSD card with four one-time installation third-party applications such as call and sms filter, a device locking program, and a phone cover. Nokia ought to revise the package contents to include at least a travel charger, a higher grade headset rather than the one that is also provided with low-end budget phones such as the Nokia 3310 Classic, a phone cover with holes to allow headset and charger connection, and perhaps a 1GB microSD.
Other than these niggles, the phone is a worthy buy and looks and feels distinct from the usual mainstream numbered Nokia models and N-series models.

Hello ppl. Just wanted to ask is it sensible to buy E71 when u hav got similar features in E51 at a lower price??
Hello everyone... You all remember me. I'm the teenager from South Africa.
This time I want to ask someone something.
Now just for the sake of my education, can someone tell me if you can use the Wi-Fi feature as a modem for your computer? In other words, can you connect your E51 to your computer(That doesn't have Internet) via USB or Bluetooth and use the Wi-Fi to connect to an ADSL Router(That supports Wi-Fi)? I know that you can use 3G to connect to the internet if you connect your phone to a computer, but I don't want to waste my money with 3G if I can use my parents' money on the ADSL.
And another thing:
Would it be faster to use the Internet with Wi-Fi or with 3G? Because I heard that it is very fast to use the 3G, but I also know that 3G isn't always that good - especially considering the not so well service provider that I'm on (I can't tell you which one, I might get sued)?
By the way: E51 is amazing!

when i connect it to USB mass storage i get a message of cards is used by application inable to use mass storage mode.. i can't use it using my pc.. or i can't connect it on my component.. i could do that using my 6300 but with this phone, i can't..
I am considering this phone, i like its design over the N95. On the specs, N95-8gb have a - Dual ARM 11 332 MHz CPU while the E51 got ARM 11 369 MHz processor. Which is faster on the two? Does it mean N95 got a dual core processor?
E71 has the same CPU as the E51 but according to reviews, E71 is faster than N95-8G. Can someone enlighten me on this?
