anne, 05 Jul 2008hi guys.. hope u would help me.. its my first time to have a wi-fi fone.. why it is always ask... moreThe pre-shared key is the password set by the WIFI owner. inorder to access someone's WIFI, you need to have their password if they have set one. When you search for WIFI, you find some networks with a lock sign, whereas some networks are with the strength bars only. u can connect to it and browse. but the speed of ur WIFI depends on the connection and the strngth as well. hope this helps you.

i just byed one E51, and i think i have problem with vibra, he dont vibrate or from time to time, when i switch on the phone he dont vibrate.when i select the ring tone,i go with scroll, he dont vibrate(ofcourse the seting for vibra is on),only sometimes.i try to call myself,is not vibrating, only ringing,in one day i had the vibra and ringing, and when i scroll the melodies to select i have vibra, after when i select, nothing!i byed free without network operator.is the version of the software or batery?or is like Samsung, some melodies with vibra some,no!
I had a feeling the volume maxed out at 10 instead of 5 like s40 phones.
I had a feeling because a co-worker of mine have a E61i and with me being the so called techie / computer whiz in the office he has no problem with me playing around with his E61i when I want to and I also assist him in fixing certain loopholes especially when he's not sure how to solve a problem.
I sort of remember the ringing volume on the E61i maxing out at 10 but you can't always use one E series to judge the other...that's why I ensure I ask you everything even though I may have an idea of the answer.
I don't recall seeing a 3D sound option in the E61i though. I will check it out on Monday.
Winura, let me ask you this: You said you NEVER missed a call even in the loudest of environments...was the ringing volume at level 7 all those times ?
new E51 user, 03 Jul 2008can u pls tell me how u connect your device 2 the wireless and if there r any settings needed ... morehey just go to connectivity and then to bluetooth then on it
after wards switch on the button in your headset
Original_Jamaican, 04 Jul 2008Yes, the 6300 have the same ringing options.
You misinterpreted my question in regards to t... morei'm sorry i have misunderstood your question. well in this the ringing volume has 10 settings. i never used the ringing volume set to the highest setting because i was happy with the sound the phone make at level 7. but before typing this i tested the volume assigned to the highest level. in order to get the best result i had to turn off the 3D sound feature of the phone.
when the 3D feature is off and the ringing is set to the highest level the phone starts just ringing. the ascending feature will not be used unless its being selected. even with the 3D switched on the phone rings in the normal way but its a bit hard to figure it out with the 3D effects. anyway the answer to your question is NO, it does not ring in the ascending mode when the sounds are set to the highest level.
Winura, 04 Jul 2008No worries. (*smile*)
yes i have used the 6230i as well as the 6230. 6230i was my 6th phon... moreYes, the 6300 have the same ringing options.
You misinterpreted my question in regards to the ascending ringing or maybe I didn't ask the question the right way.
Ok, when I ask if the E51's ringing ascend (starts low then gets high) I'm referring to the ring option set to 'ringing' NOT ascending. I never use the ascending feature.
The thing is that with most new Nokia phones, even though the ring style is set to ringing, once you max the ringing volume it automatically ascends instead of a loud outburst when a call is received.
As you know, most Nokia phones ringing volume stops at level 5. When the ring style is set to ringing, in order for the ringing NOT to ascend the ringing volume has to be set to level 4. Once you put the ringing volume at 5 it automatically ascends...which simply means it starts at a low volume then eventually gets louder after a few seconds.
So I'm asking, in layman terms, when the E51's ringing style is set to 'ringing' and the ringing volume is at the loudest. Does it start or low and then start ringing at the loudest after a few seconds ?

I hope you don't have a problem answering my barrage of questions. Thanks in adv... moreNo worries. (*smile*)
yes i have used the 6230i as well as the 6230. 6230i was my 6th phone i guess. lol. well i think the E51 is the same or may be even a bit louder when it rings than the 6230i as well as when you play music in it. unlike the 6230i the E51 can play .M4A formatted files with its music player and i think the quality is also better than having .mp3 plus it saves a lot of space in your phone.
in the E51 you can select your ringing mode within 5 options like ringing, ascending, ring once, beep once and silent. but as i can remember the 6300 had the same options in its ringing mode selection. am i correct?
well the speaker phone is also considerably loud than the 6300. i have only used it a several times but i managed to keep the conversation going without asking the person at the other end to shout at the mouthpiece of his phone. but since i have not used a 1600 i cant compare the E51's loudspeaker quality with it.
and to tell you about the microphone its very good too. you don't have to raise your voice un-necessarily to have a conversation with the other party thus this phone don't have the voice enhancer option like the 6300.
I hope you don't have a problem answering my barrage of questions. Thanks in advance (smile).
Following up with the speaker phone question. Do you hear the other person loud and clear through the loudspeaker even in noisy areas ?
I know someone who has a Nokia 1600 and that speaker phone is loud. I have heard it for myself. The operator voice services play extremely loud compared to my 6300.
That owner for the 1600 said that most times they couldn't switch a call to speaker phone when they were at home because the neighbours could easily hear what the recipient was saying and they like discreetness.
I simply want to know, when you route a call to loudspeaker, do you hear the other person very loudly ?
Maybe I should have phrased one of my questions differently. Previously I asked you what do you think about the E51's loudspeaker in comparison to 6300...that question could go 2 ways, ringing volume or speaker phone (handsfree)
So I will rephrase my question how would you compare the E51's speaker phone compared to 6300's speaker phone ?
Winura, 04 Jul 2008well thats not true actually. i have used a 6300 before and before buying the E51 i managed to... moreEvery time you speak of the E51 and mention louder / very loud I feel better because I need a very loud phone as quite often I have missed calls with the 6300 especially if I'm in a noisy environment, not to mention on the road with vehicles passing.
I like the 3D sound part you mentioned as well. Loudness and clarity is everything to me.
Quick question, have you ever used a 6230 before ? I found that phone to be loud. If you have experienced the legendary 6230 which would say is louder, the E51 or 6230 ?
Final question...when the volume is set to maximum on E51 does the ringing ascend like 6300 or rings at it's loudest with the first ring ?
One of the reasons why it's easy to miss calls with 6300 is that the ringing starts off low and gets high after about 4-5 seconds...even then, at it's highest volume, it's not loud enough for very noisy environments.
All in all I'm thrilled about the extreme loudness you have emphasized regarding the E51.
Anonymous, 04 Jul 2008@winura did you change ur screen guard? No i haven't. but i have seen the difference without the standard screen guard. and i'm planning to get one for my phone ONLY is the original falls off or something.
Original_Jamaican, 04 Jul 2008To WINURA: What is your opinion about the E51's loudspeaker ? Do you find it to be very lou... morewell thats not true actually. i have used a 6300 before and before buying the E51 i managed to compare the sound quality and found out the e51's sound quality is very very good than the 6300. its louder, more clearer and best of all it has the 3D sound option. believe me, even those warning tones in the E51 are much much louder than the 6300. and i have never missed a call since i bought the E51 even in the loudest environment i've been. and i personally think the music player is also louder than the 6300 when playing music via loudspeaker. the headset is exactly the same as you get with the 6300 but i think playing music via the headset is also a bit better. (that my personal opinion about the headset) if you have anyway of getting your hands on a E51 before buying you can experience the difference yourself.
