I had the same problem...and tried, as you, all I could manage...later also got an professional opinion from a local service store...he said "I new IMEI should be written...and it'll cost you..blah, blah.." so I put my E51 from a drawer and...

I had the same problem. I tried everything. The firmware is corrupt. I finally bought a used e52 on ebay to replace it.
