> In reply to Rohan @ 2010-07-06 20:27 from ut9q - click to readHi Rohan,
today i checked the download speed with my mtnl 3g sim on my pc thru speedtest.net. It performed 910kbps download and 217kbps with upload speed. I downloaded window media player 11 for my pc. Mtnl charges 1paisa per 10kb. But i am facing one problem with it that it automatically gets disconnected within 10 to 15 mnts of surfing. Is there any solution with u.

> In reply to Rohan @ 2010-07-06 20:27 from ut9q - click to readHi Rohan, may be 56mA is the nominal value of current consumption in E52 when no other apps are running. But as you pointed out the math gives 26 hrs battery life which is absurd (don't know why it's wrong). Also the profiler app is showing 29 hrs remaining when there are just two bars and at 56mA consumption!! When I bought my phone the battery life seemed to be great. I have been getting this problem only recently (my phone is a month old). My WLAN scanning was off while I was monitoring the current consumption. Anyway I have reduced the Tx power to 4mW just to be safe. Let me watch over my phone for a few more days to see if this problem occurs consistently. If it persists I better take it to a Nokia service centre.

> In reply to arun @ 2010-07-06 18:36 from vGQn - click to readArun!! I have a feeling my previous posts were more speculative than factual. I just downloaded the nokia energy profiler onto my e52 and it showed up consuming exactly 56mA. So i'm guessing my opinions of battery life calculation is probably wrong considering I charge my phone once in 3-4 days. Please take your battery to an expert and get it checked. You could probably short the batter ends with a specific resistor (probably 50-60ohm) and see how long it takes to drain. That should give you an estimate about how much power it actually stores. Simpler still ...... replace your battery!!!!!

> In reply to arun @ 2010-07-06 18:36 from vGQn - click to readAnother thing... I'm not an expert at this and I've not checked my phones current consumption but my guess is that a value of 56mA is a very high current consumption.
Consider this. The E52 battery is rated as 1500mAh which i guess would mean it could provide you with 1500mA of current for 1 hour. So considering your phone is consuming 56mA of current, simple mathematics would show that 1500mAh / 56mA = 26.78 hrs of power which is pathetically low for an E52.
Please read my previous reply and see if it helps reduce your current consumption.....

> In reply to arun @ 2010-07-06 18:36 from vGQn - click to readIf your power consumption is high I think it could be that your WLAN scan is perpetually on even though you're not browsing. Its important to note that the WLAN scan is not an application but more like a background system function hence it won't show up in your running application list.
A probable solution would be to either disable the scan when you don't require it or reduce the TX power of your WLAN transmitter. To do this go to
1. Menu/Ctrl Panel/Settings/Connection/WirelessLan/ 2. Left click Options/Advanced Settings/ (Click YES)
3. Scroll down to TX power level (don't change anything else)
4. You get 3 options 100mW/10mW/4mW (default is 100mw)
5. Choose 10mW as a compromise though frankly I've not had a problem with even 4mW....
Hopefully this should solve your battery drainage problem. If this fails then I suggest you do a controlled complete drain of your battery using an appropriate current limiting resistor and recharge the battery from its base level. Sort of like formatting a battery :)

hi.. my e52 doesn't seem to perform well on battery life. It hardly lasts a day and a half. I installed nokia energy profiler app and found that on average it consumes around 56mA with no other application running in background. Any e52 user, plz tell how much current your phone consumes. thanks.. :)

because u have already one c5 for ur wife. I can nt suggest nt to take it as its display is very poor in direct sunlight. But u know the diff is only 3500rs and u r loosing wifi, doc editor, font magnifier, full functional adv call mgr, bright n large dispjay, larger keypad, dual mode home sacreen, psiloc traveler, ngage etc etc, which takes e52 far far away frm c5. Still at its place, c5 is nt bad at all.

I am using a e52 for a week now. Its a wonderful smartphone specially at the price its been offered.Web surfing, texting and calling is a breeze. The large display (compared to other e series phones) makes it brilliant for viewing full HTML pages. The battery life has been satisfactory as well.
However on the negative side the camera quality is very poor and the sensor is not always accurate...apart from these flaws its an excellent business phone....a must buy!!!!

I like everything about the phone except its reliability. It automatically restarts itself down while talking on the phone, while texting, on its own will. So, in short I would never recommend anyone to buy this phone.

> In reply to Rohan @ 2010-07-06 13:04 from ut9X - click to readAnother point to consider when buying a second hand one is that the ear speaker of the E52 has a very fine mesh protecting it. This mesh can get pretty badly clogged up with dirt which would explain why the ear piece sound diminishes over time. Cleaning this mesh is a very cumbersome process and requires opening the "A" front faceplate and requires a couple of specific tools for the purpose. I reiterate my stand that when it comes to the E52, considering that its a lot more delicate than other nokia's, its not advisable to go in for a used piece.

Then again this is just my opinion after owning both korea vs india made E52's. I advise you not but a used E52. Instead go in for the Nokia C5.

My opinion stated very subtle differences and I doubt you'll be disappointed with your present phone. However if you do want a second phone made in Finland, if your in Blore i suggest you try Mahaveer Electronics, 3rd shop on the left in the left hand basement corridor of National Market Ghandhibazar. It costed me 11.5k and included the car stand etc.
