it has aluminium casing parts (back, frame) bcuz it has to be thin ... 9.9mm

kind of how the motorola v3 is designed

on the other hand..it's almost as "thick" as the E71 (wich has a steel back-plate and front frame) .. and i would have liked to see steel parts on this one too .. like on the upcoming 6700 classic ... don't think it would have affectet it's dimensions too much, only slightly increased weight

If this phone had touch screen and android OS, this would be hands down the best phone in the world

hi every body,i have e50,e51 right now.e50 was the first of E-series and had very very bad keyboard quality,symbols cleared at the first 2 month of use,e51 has greater speed and greater design but......
i experienced N81,6210,N80,N95,7610 and so...here is my opinion:
E-55 is the best phone that i have ever seen.
advantages:
1-Most powerful NOKIA CPU's:600 Mhz
2-Steel And Slim feel,seems nice
3-Strong build quality,same as all E series
4-Powerful Battry mah:1500 mah
5-good lcd size
finally,the first nokia phone which brings you to new nokia cpu.
if you dont need camera phone.the best choice is E55,look you want to buy phone not digital camera.

I have a N82.It's an amazing phone.It not only does great pics with 5MP lens and Xenon flash, it has got an awesome sound quality and even with a 3.5mm jack.This is a no compromise phone.You have every little feature in this phone GPS,Wifi,Quad Band,16GB memory support,128 MB RAM.You get everything that you get in E71....the qwerty does not much help in editing docs either.If you need mobile office, try the net books on the block, becoz even with the qwerty editing a doc in a mobile is painful and not worth the salt.

i think its aluminum not steel means, there is a scratch is possible in its surface. But the E51 consists of steel body which is strong, and it is not pure black it is Black Aluminum.

I would like to know if someone can confirm if the E55 has a recording of conversation on the spot as E51. the button on the upper side on left , as it is very handy to record Important discussion for furhter ref. Please Please confirm if any one have any .......

Hi everybody and thanks for the replies , I already have a e71. I am very happy with its performance. I want a second phone and a e series because I like it. The main criteria for choosing a e51 was that it is compact. I am not comfortable with the half qwerty. I am not worried about the 3.5 mm jack because I use a sony hb220 bluetooth headset. I have gps and all the other major features in my e71. Should I still wait for e55 ?

It's a feature of the new EDOF(extended depth of field) camera Technology. It is supposed to take better pictures for it's MP size. Have to wait and see if that's actually the case.

I had the 6270 also and it was a great phone. After that I've had 7 phones (SEs, Nokias and Samsungs) and the latest Nokia e71 is absolutely the best of them and I've kept it for over a half year now.

Phones should be changed often! :-)

I was considering buying E51, now comes E55. I have to wait for this. I like little phones. 9.9mm thinness and 3.2 mp camera makes the phone worth the wait to me.

wtf is enhanced fixed focus? was it too hard to have enabled it with an AF camera? i was excited about getting one..since it had looked like it was one of the best models yet ...but now ... wether or not to exchange my e71 with e55 ... donno . SHAME although Nokia !
