Just installed firmware 12.046, and I can't say I like it.
Some visible differences:
1) Cool effects of rotating when going to camera mode gone, which means it goes to camera mode more quickly
2) The naviwheel is now INSENSITIVE
Tell me your own experiences as I want to see whether you have the same issues.
I really hate the insensitive naviwheel, I have to circle a few times just for it to move one step to the next icon.

I have the uk o2 version of this phone but cant get it so work on wlan. The phone hangs every single time i try to connect and the only way to restart is to remove the battery. I tried other wlans as well and it does the same thing.
Anyone have a similiar experience??

Ok just to Clearify, nothing is wrong with the N78 Speaker Volume!! If you take the Protective plastic that it originally comes with off it'll be just fine!! Wish I had know that before I went and spent money on buying a Bluetooth Headset!!

Can someone please answer. I am interested in buying a phone that will replace my camera and GPS. Why do I have to pay for GPS on this phone when it is free on an ordinary TomTom? I would appreciate any sensible comment.

I'm interested in the FM transmitter of this phone.
How does it work, is it really true that you can broadcast your own FM? cooool! Tell us more about it N78 owners..
Nokia should incorporate this feature to upcoming phones.

the truly outstanding about n78 are its new user interface, fm transmitter and battery life! hsdpa, wifi and gps in a middle class handset like n78 are clear indicators that it's really worth buying. the only letdown are the 15fps video record & lack of tv-out. absence of accelerometer for screen auto-rotate is not a big deal at all cos you can manually rotate the screen in landscape mode with just a push of a button, which is better than auto-rotate that most of the time rotates the screen when not intended to. the build quality should've also been given emphasis. it's Q3 2008 now and nokia still manufacture low quality build phones! design is discreet and beautiful. i must say more good looking than its lookalike n82. but inorder to look cool, ergonomics and usability are sacrificed. all in all, n78 seems to be more exciting than n82 in a lot of ways, although n82 outperforms n78 in a lot of ways also. it's a contest actually between n82 & n78. n78 is more cool, more hip, but n82 is more capable...

hmmm... i've been reading all the previous opinions of other people... uhmm some says the speakers are too soft and low... what???? pls. people don't believe them! it's speakers are really loud! maybe louder than n95-1 and n95 8gb.. both n95 are my previous phones and of course every latest phones comes out i switch my old phone and go to the new one!
well all i can say on its speakers is a killer!!!! damn! its loud enough! and also maybe louder that n81! so grab one of n78! its one of the wonders cellphone in the world!
