Design is nice, but the phone is simply too large, and keypad is horrible!

Of course it can play music. But see there's no external music keys so this is not a music-centric device. It's like an N80, an all-in-one device, Jack of All Trades, Master of None. That's what N78 really is.

Hey all. I am so confused. Some say the sound of the N78 sucks, and some say it is good. Can someone please tell me how is the loudness and quality of the loudspeakers, and how it differs with the N81's loudspeakers. Please.

Can the flash be turned on manually (as a torch) like the sony phones? I don't know why nokia phones never make the flash to be turn on manually.

got this today and its a piece of dirt
speakers very low no stereo sound the N81 is the loudest next to N95 and proper sound
fingerprint magnet
very light if it drops say goodbye
no apps would work from older s60 phones that was stored on card it didnt even read them
its cheaper than n82 lots of people sayings it more expensive and as the saying goes you get what you pay for your better of waiting for the n96 or get the n82/95/81

> In reply to popo5 @ 2008-06-17 11:16 from ftD8 - click to readI tried playing music files that are already available in N78 and the sound quality is good. No inteference but do note the range is short. I have not tried it in a car where I am driving and the antenna is way back.

Found a new con:
I had no idea the new Nokia models do not come with built in software wallets to store sensitive information. That is a major bummer.

> In reply to Johnny @ 2008-06-16 02:44 from v$AV - click to readPeople i don't get you? N78's initial price is far less than the initial price of N82!

It's totally natural, that at the N78's launch, its price is much more than after almost 3/4 year of the N82's launch! Where is your logic people?

I bought the old nokia 3100 for $300! Look now what $300 can get you! An iphone maybe!

Use your heads for god's sakes because these thought are getting on my nerves!

In our nick of the woods in eastern coastal Australia, I need a phone with dual UMTS900/UMTS2100 capability, frequencies used by my provider Optus/Virgin in their new roll-out.

I had been looking at both the N82 and N95 before, but neither obliges - so I was resigned to wait for the new Nokia N96 model.

In the meantime "The Updater" on the exceedingly useful Whirlpool forum (www.whirlpool.net.au) has alerted me to the N78 as fulfilling my needs for dual-band UMTS.

So, I'll chase around here in our bush 'bled' (Hicksville to you) to actually get my hands on the N78 and get a feel for it...

Will report back A.S.A.P.

Cheers!

> In reply to Anonymous @ from HHHH - click to readthe wholesale rate now is just under $400. so depending on how luxurious the shop is.. the price will increase.. and offcourse there is tax also. so i think anything around 450 dollars is ok considering 50 dollar profit and tax.
