Just tried on Garmin Mobile XT 4.20.20. It is wonderful to use it and it's performing better and smoother than Nokia Maps 2.0 ... I recommend every N78 owner to own it

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-08-22 06:57 from ibgXHey there...
Well, the n78 has a good music player but not the best, if u r satisfied with a bit lower loudness than the n81 (if u have tried the n81) then the n78 is ur phone, i tried it live as i said b4, i adjusted everything (the loudness set to ON, stereo widening was also ON, and i kept on adjusting the equalizer up and down, highest to lowest) but still couldnt beat the n81. But that doesnt mean its not a good music phone, if u attach it to some good speakers or headphone i guess it will do a good job.

cheers

I just changed my 6120classic to a N78. in my country, the ratio of price of N78:N81:N82 is 11:12:15, so its quite reasonable price. Physically, the phone looks very attractive, the keys dissapear without backlit and its cool..but my unit has little flaws : the left side has light leakage like the N81, the battery cover wobbles slightly..otherwise, it feels solid in my hand..the photos taken with N78 have very good quality, and the beautiful screen itself makes viewing photos a pleasure on the N78..the ultimate dissapointment with the N78 is music, don't get me wrong, its good, but having heard that its better than the N81, I expect more from it..music thru headset lacks alot of bass, maybe its because i'm using the in-box headphone, or because i did not adjust the equalizers? Another thing is that some of the videos in my memory card did not appear in the videos section of the multimedia menu, can some1 help me? Anyway, i'm still fully satisfied with it..the N78 is a do-it-all device..with style

hey nightmare...

Well, about the zooming, its normal to have it slow, as this process takes time to accomplish.

Free themes. u can find it in www.zedge.com
or u can try www.mobile9.com, u might not find themes especially for n78 but themes for n81 and n82 will do the job.

For rotating the phone in landscape, i need to ask if the phone has Accelerometer built in. Well, if it does then the phone should have this option pre-installed (to auto rotate the screen as u flip the phone). But there is a program called RotateMe, there r 2 versions of this software, one for the phones that have Accelerometer (version 2 will work on these phones) and another version for the phones that dont have Accelerometer (version 1.5). My n81 doesnt have Accelerometer so i use version 1.5 to flip the screen to landscape by assigning a hot key, its a very easy to use software and very handy, and of course it works on any application or menu on ur phone. Version 2 flips the phone automatically without assigning a hot key cuz it uses the sensor on the phone to rotate the screen. Go to www.bysamir.fr and check it out urself.

cheers

I am going to tell out an interesting issue among the n Series devices and probably no body will let me know the solution.
I would like to get chinese language pack to be installed on this device by using euro 1 product code. Can this be done? because as far as i know euro firmware can disable the flash status and the camera shutter sounds while asia pacific cannot.
Thanks if some experts can help me out. But i dont think it can be done.

Missing of a pen key. Those people who think they are smart enough and say the pen key actually have been replace by the # key. This is because they know from the menu.
I realize that the pen key actually do replace by the # key but it is just for copy and paste function only.
For those who know the other useful way for the pen key is to mark several by just holding the pen key and scroll the navi. This is extremely fast if u would like to mark several for many messages, pictures, contacts, songs and etc. In the other hand you can capture a screen shot by using the pen key in the previous n series devices.
Now everything had become slower. Even the new service pack 2 interface do make the performance of the phone become nooby. Try and see you will notice the difference.

For me, N78 is the perfect phone. It has everything I want in a phone. 3.2MP camera, WIFI, HSDPA, GPS, Music player, FM transmitter, Internet browser, Great animated user interface, NGAGE, 1200mah battery.

ok guys, i just read ur posts.

The method is based on a software (sis) that u install to ur phone, so u do everything using the phone, no need for the pc.

here is the link, BUT guys read carefully and do a little research b4 doing that on n78 cuz it has FP2, and i am not sure if this method works on FP2, i tried it on my n81 (which is FP1) and worked with not a single porblem, but as i read somewhere on the internet, it should work on FP2

http://www.dotsis.com/mobile_p....php?t=97941

let me know if u try it

cheers

Hey

Well Kelvin, I do agree with what u mentioned, as i tried the phone LIVE and compared it with my n81. Music wise, n81 beats n78 easily, i tried two same songs on each phone with the same headphones, well, if u adjust the volume in n81 to about 70% u will get the same on n78 at 100%, but that does not mean if u put the volume in n81 to 100% u will lose sound quality, no, it will be louder with 100% clear sound. The output through the speakers is also much better in n81.

FM transmitter. Yes, it has a weak signal.

Camera quality in n78 is of course better, as it has 3.2 MP Carl Zeiss lens.

Keypad is not that diffecult to use, i think it's just a matter of time to get used to it (i send a lot of msgs everyday so i got used to it just in the shop when i was trying it :p )

About the interface, the n78 has Symbian 9.3 with Feature Pack 2, which installs the menu animation and stuff, its cool actually :) and the standby now can be changed to Vertical Bar, which makes it possible to add more shortcuts as a Shortcut Menu can be added in that vertical bar. But the good news is that in n81 latest firmware (20.0.056), the menu animation s are added, so u will have the same animation on ur n81 if u upgrade to this firmware, but u won't have the vertical bar.

That's all...

n o n a m e --> body cant u just squeeze ur nickname? :) it took me a minute to type it ;) no am just kidding... oh yes i know a way how to install unsigned softwares, just post again here and i will provide everybody with the way. actually am tired of typing so i'll do it tomorrow :)

Cheers

WORTH TO READ.(LIVE EXPERIENCE)

1.the left selection key is really hard to press with the end call key.because of the media key and another important issue is that the glass which cover the lcd(on top of lcd)(above the selection key is fix at higher then the selection key,so once u press the selection key then your finger nail maybe be block by the glass above the lcd.

2.Fm trasmitter really have a weak signal, can listen buggy sounds when placing the phone far from the antenna(but within inside the car)but if u stick with the phone with the antenna then it will be perfectly no buggy sounds(prove to be weak signal).

3.new firmware do improve the quality of the sounds,it will be done through Z rom which mean preinstalled driver of the phone (interior equaliser incase u dont understand).example n73 speaker has a perfect loud and good quality of speaker in recent firmware.(i still remember the my beginning n73 the speaker was just very lousy, low sound and poor quality.

4.Anyway the new firmware release on 15 of july (v12)did not make any improvement on the speaker of the phone, this is due to no people make any complain about the speaker to nokia by sending customer feedback or complain in nokia web.(so dont wait plz do it)

5.Those who still say the have no problem with the speaker then plz try out by comparing the sound with any other n series then u will notice the difference.(big gap man!)

6.the sensivity of the navi key have been decrease in the latest firmware (v12) in order to prevent accidently activate the navi key.

7.The new fp2 interface actually do make the phone become slower in responding. I am referring to menu animation. anyway it can be disable in themes>edit>animation>off.(try it u will feel ur phone become faster.)

8.another main issue on this phone is the wobbly back housing.even the plastic material of this phone is good but the back housing is still wobbly.(u can hear cracky sound when u r typing or maybe pushing the back cover.

9.Display is perfectly outstanding, one of the most outperform in N series.

10.Overall the phone performance is reasonable and acceptable, anyway it is worth to have one( mini compact gadget almost all in one).

11.Be reasonable to make any complain on a phone which is only costing about 350 us dollar.
