garry, 17 Mar 2011nokia doesn't know exactly from which point this problem had occured....out of 100,70% handset... moreSamsung suck, they sell dfctive amoled to fall down nokia campany, pleased nokia resolved it immediately, me also I got brownish purple on my n8, nokia care cannot accept this as defect its said is normal, will not affecr the performance of n8. Its suck..
Its not a phone. Its a Media Center, but, it can work as a phone sometimes. Thats all
I had my first N8 in Oct 2010. It was black, and really problematic. Used to freeze, restart and at times refused to accept the call as the screen froze. I was really disappointed as I loved its camera and other features but could not carry on with these problems. i also read about the defective motherboards on N8 and the symptoms mine was facing would have to end in it being dead. So I sold it before it could die on me. Now on 15th March, I got a new Silver N8 and must say its awesome. maybe the software upgrade has sorted out the glitches, but I love the colour. It looks really cool and now I am enjoying every moment of my new N8.
I feel sorry for the guys having problems with their sets, I can feel their anguish. Thankfully, for me this is over and I am able to get a defect free N8.
N8 mods have been updated to v6.00. Download from http://geekifysymbian.blogspot.com/
Install mod #24 to get rid of purple screen problem
nokia doesn't know exactly from which point this problem had occured....out of 100,70% handset is defected by this purple reddish problem and samsung is big and too big from nokia ,they can't give nokia 70% defective amoled screen..so basically its nokia hardware graphic chipset problem and if its then its very difficult to solve this problem bcoz this problem is in large scale and nokia can't change hardware in large scale bcoz by this they can have a big loss so thats y nokia is showing their ignoring attitude towards this problem.......
All purple....no gray/black (i m fron Delhi/India)
nokia care denied to accept it as a fault.....
they showed the same on c7 and many other n8 and said this is characteristics of this amoled screen.
Mi6lethaltool, 16 Mar 2011And you want me to believe that some people have the bad luck of having the "Purple scree... moreI have an N8 with the purple screen problem. I am NOT happy with the way in which Nokia are not acknowledging the problem, and so therefore refusing to deal with it.
My N8 is just brilliant, everything it does with great fluancy!, no probs at all!i cann't imagine any other mobile will ever be better than N8!Now I cann't imagine living without N8!Cheers Nokia!!!
last week my n8 was hanged and it is replaced by nokia care and will deliver about 3 weeks later.i am really shocked.
Aaron, 16 Mar 2011I'm not quite sure. But it will be better if you bring your unit to NC and ask the guys there ... morei'm considering that option but as of the moment, i think i'll hold on to my n8 for a little while until there's a known solution for the amoled problem. i've read some ncc's don't know how to fix it and worse, some even received their unit with scratches in it after ncc returned it. thanks anyway.

Need to say this, I bought my lovely N8 in December 2010 and never experienced any issue with the AMOLED screen! Myne is pitch black.. Thanks Nokia for this awsome piece of art!! I would never settle for anything less..
Proudly Dark Grey owner.
Nokia will unveil a new Symbian^3 device at CTIA!!!
As I told to people who want Symbian die that Symbian will not die since millions and millions people use and feel very comfortable with Symbian.
Nokia as a bussiness company, will they throw their bread and butter? Now who is the morron? you or Nokia?
